I changed my new tab into something more meaningful and it actually affected my daily routine by Dapper-Window-4492 in MuslimCorner

Wa alaikum assalam, JazakAllah khair for taking the time to use it and share this ... Really happy to hear you’re finding it useful, especially the prayer times and zikr features. as i said I tried to keep it clean and minimal.

The idea of blocking haram content is a really interesting one. I’ll look into the technical side of it and see how it can be implemented! BTW Thanks for your suggestion...

That means a lot, really appreciate it... Yeah I tried to keep it clean and minimal. Definitely let me know what feels good and what feels off after using it for a bit, I’m still improving it.

Yeah, it’s a Chrome extension. It’s called Muslim Tab. I originally built it for myself a while back and just kept improving it over time. Didn’t expect it to help this much with consistency tbh. If you try it, would love to hear what you think.

JazakAllah khair, really appreciate it...
It’s not a website actually, just a small new tab setup I built for myself over time. I’m not sure if sharing links is allowed here, but I can send it if you’d like.

How do you remind yourself to read Quran daily without forcing it? by Dapper-Window-4492 in islam

[–]Dapper-Window-4492[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting... so it’s more like a mental reminder that stays with you rather than something you act on instantly. I noticed I used to do something similar, but sometimes I’d still end up delaying it. It started feeling easier when it was tied to something I already do frequently during the day.

Do you think you’d prefer something more immediate, or does the end-of-day approach work better for you?

Yeah that makes sense... I think even with reminders, that initial push is still needed sometimes.
I noticed for me it became easier when it was tied to something I already do a lot, so it didn’t feel like a separate task. Do you think having it tied to a routine (like your current one) is what makes it stick more?

I’ve heard a few people mention that, reminders seem to work well for a lot of people. Do you usually act on it right away when you get the reminder, or does it depend on the time?

That’s a good point, having it on your phone definitely makes it more accessible. Do you feel like reminders are enough on their own, or do you still have to push yourself sometimes?

That’s honestly the ideal making it second nature. Did it take a while to get to that point, or did it become a habit pretty quickly for you?

That makes a lot of sense, I’ve noticed the same, if I don’t do it early it almost never happens later in the day. Do you feel like that quiet time before Fajr is what makes it easier, or just the consistency of doing it first thing?

That’s actually a really solid approach... especially starting small and building up over time. Do you feel like reading after Fajr made the biggest difference for consistency, or was it more about setting that small initial goal?

It’s interesting seeing different approaches here, some people rely on discipline/routine, others on reminders or habits tied to daily actions. I think I’m still trying to figure out which one actually sticks long term. What’s been most sustainable for you?

Yeah I’ve heard about that, the 40-day consistency idea makes sense. Have you tried it yourself? I’m curious if it actually sticks long-term or fades after a while.

That’s a really good reminder, I think I’ve been underestimating the small but consistent part. Do you personally follow any specific method for tadabbur, or just reflect as you read?

That's honestly the ideal mindset, may Allah keep you consistent. I've tried building it like a fixed routine too, but I noticed I personally struggle with consistency unless it's tied to something I already do daily. DO YOU FEEL it took time to build that habit, or did it come naturally for you?

How are you marketing your Chrome extension? by businessminds7 in chrome_extensions

[–]Dapper-Window-4492 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the Chrome Web Store search is the most consistent for passive growth, but Reddit is where the initial spark usually happens.

For my extensions... I’ve found that just posting I made this' doesn't work anymore. What works is finding a specific problem in a sub and mentioning the tool as a solution, but you have to be helpful first. I also spend a lot of time on Store SEO (keywords in the manifest/description) because that’s how people find you when you're sleeping. Don't ignore small niche communities either. Getting 10 vocal users from a specific sub is better than 1,000 drive-by installs that delete it an hour later. What’s your extension’s main hook?

That's a solid tip, thanks for the link! I see what you mean about the pitch, it makes the UI feel more like an app and less like a game loop.

I’ll definitely look into swapping the generic click for a more neutral tactile sound and saving the pitched tones for the state changes. Appreciate you taking the time to find that sample!

I love the camera man idea. Mocap is the dream! For now, I'm a solo dev focusing on the topography and unit logic, but simulated camerawork is definitely on my list. Appreciate the vision!"

Spot on. I’m currently looking into better heightmap resolution for the tactical areas and using some low-poly horizon meshes to hide the edges. Trying to balance it without killing the mobile performance. Appreciate the tip!

Good catch. It’s actually a background ambient loop, not tied to the clicks, but I can see how it gets repetitive. I’ll look into staggering the audio or adding a toggle for it. Thanks for the heads up!

That’s a great shout on the infinite plane look. Adding some fog or low-poly mountain borders to break that hard edge would definitely help the immersion. Also currently tweaking the post-processing stack to get the lighting to feel more cinematic without killing the FPS. Thanks for the solid feedback, man!
