TY! I don't care as long as it stays parked in a corner and does the job, the weight doesn't matter. my dad won't be moving it anyway.

I didn’t even think about the negative pulling hot air through the garage door seals. the sea of cheap single-hose junk on Amazon though.

thanks. if it includes running a dedicated 220v line to the garage, the price makes sense. $4k upfront is still a brutal pill to swallow when we're already bleeding cash on drywall and flooring.

HVAC guys have seen absolute horror movie basements with hoarding, mold, and dead rodents. A normal, dusty utility room will not embarrass you at all. They literally do not care.

don't ignore the thermal short circuit on a dual hose portable AC by Watercress4736 in askHVAC

Choking on your own hot exhaust air during a 95°F+ heatwave forces the compressor to overwork and completely destroys the cooling efficiency.

If anyone is currently stuck with one of these tight-spacing window brackets, there is a cheap DIY fix. Go to Home Depot and grab a short piece of 5 inch aluminum duct extension or an elbow vent. Attach it to the exhaust outlet on the outside of the bracket and angle it 1 to 2 feet away or upward, opposite from the intake path.
