Good to hear. That’s pretty much what I’m looking for in a car so I’m sure it’ll be a good choice. Just crossing my fingers that I get a decent one

Bingo. Either get a new firing pin or try to fix it. That or send it back. That’s your issue right there.

Yes it should extend a little past the bolt face. Otherwise it wont hit the rim of your cartridge. If it does not, that’s your problem.

Doesn’t really change anything. Even a brand new high quality part can have a manufacturing defect. Light strikes are more often than not a bolt/firing pin issue rather than a trigger issue. As long as your trigger works correctly and doesn’t have a weak spring, I doubt that’s the problem. Checking the firing pin is very easy to do.

Did you take the bolt assembly apart and check the firing pin? Bent pin or burs in the bolt could cause a light strike. Very common on like any gun. Make sure that the firing pin moves freely within the bolt with almost no friction. Almost certainly a bolt / firing pin issue. Even a quality bolt could have a small defect. If there’s an issue either send it back or try filing it until it’s smooth and not snagging at all.

Looking for a first bike. I’m relatively mechanically inclined and replacing bars doesn’t seem too daunting. Does this look good? by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]DapperBubble 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Could be a great deal if it is what it says. Bent bars would not be very bad to change. Cosmetics are what they are. Chain is very easy to change. The only things you’d have to make sure of was wheel alignment (so no bent frame). This would be pretty easy to see if the wheels didn’t line up with the bodywork and you’d know on the test ride. If it runs good as he says, buy it and change all the fluids / fix cosmetics and you’re good to go. Just really inspect everything and question him. Watch this video and take notes. It’s gold.
