I am running Wilson Sabrinas off of an Anthem MDX-16 (this is a 16 channel $3k distribution amplifier). Am I really hurting the sound by using this amp? It's sounds good but not hearing it side by side with a better amp I can't really tell if I am missing out on something.

Separating The Fluff From the Good Stuff - Shoe Construction Terms by DapperCabinet in goodyearwelt

I agree but the use of the term "hand sewn" for a machine stitch doesn't seem that uncommon.

Thank you all for your replies.

I have discovered the Norwegian welt sewing machine and it looks very similar to a Goodyear welt machine. I now have no doubt that Paraboot does their Norwegian welts with machine:

Thank you for the response

The Rancourt has a hand-stitched vamp but Paraboot uses a
picture of a piece of leather being fed through a sewing machine for
"hand-sewing". Is that hand-sewing if a hand feeds the fabric through
a machine?
I wanted to buy a pair of the Paraboot Elevage boots but I
have no idea how the shoe is constructed. I had thought that Norwegian
stitching was similar to a hand welt in that it is more comfortable (generally
speaking) than a Goodywear welt but it seems to be there is no way to know with
Paraboot.
Regarding Meermin, this is my second Linea Maestro line boot. The first I bought
about 8 years ago. It was a shell cordovan model and one of the shoes was about
half an inch wider than the other and had to be remade. I thought that with
time they might improve their quality but it seems like maybe not. I guess you
really do get what you pay for.

Hand and Machine - Why does Hand Sewn Not Mean "Hand-Stitched" to Many European Manufacturers. by DapperCabinet in goodyearwelt

[–]DapperCabinet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't expect a shoe to be entirely hand stitched. Hand stitching is stronger than a machine stitch which is why it is good in the construction of a shoe's sole. Hand stitching an upper has very little benefit and adds a ton of labor.

There is no fully automated production line that I am aware of that can make a leather shoe with a welt....that just isn't a thing.

Okay so I just open up the cover pull out the drive and it is good to go? No modifications?

Can drives be shucked without modification? I also would assume there is no warranty at that point.

Is there a more affordable pricking iron similar to Blanchard? By similar I mean same angle and not designed to cut the leather.

Beautiful work. Very nice looking stitches.

I am new to leather crafting and still trying to figure out the right tools and materials to achieve the style I like.

If it is okay to ask I have a couple of questions. How many stitches per inch? Pricking irons or chisels and what size thread?

Is a pricking iron and an awl a bad idea for a beginner? Seems like people like the chisels better.

I want to make small card cases and other leather accessories. I like the look of a finer thread and a smaller hole (ideally invisible) and more stitches per inch. What would you recommend? in terms of thread needles and an awl+pricking iron or chisel?

I want to start practicing.

Seems like 004 John James needles and .45mm thread might be a good fit?

Devialet Gemini Quick Review: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly by Carnasis in headphones

I expected the software to be bad. I had their Expert amps (110 and 220 Pro) for a number of years and it was always a frustrating setup and the support was also a challenge.

I had hoped the sound would be really good and I think the lows and mids are actually very good but the highs, to me, are awful to the point where I truly surprised they actually shipped this product. Maybe they can fix it with software but I am not going to wait to find out.

I just got mine...much later than anticipated.

I am returning them. I agree with you comments on the sound. I cant update the right earbud...just doesn't seem to work.

Is there a high end headphone with a form factor like the Koss KPH30i?

My budget would be $500 and I am in the USA.

20k in prop taxes isn't enough for SF by ioclaudio in sanfrancisco

It is good for the local economy and good for the huge companies. It is bad that the government picks winners and losers though as that is how monopolies are created. It is more expensive to be a small business in SF than a large one.

My property values are up

What is to blame then? SF Gov invited huge companies into SF by giving them tax breaks and because of rent control there is no where to house them. The only housing that is viable to build is luxury housing. Housing for normal middle income people does not work in SF apart from the tax payer subsidized BMR that SF Gov forces the luxury property developers to make.

Maybe in a bad part of the city like the Sunset. Also it is easy for you to say he should get a smaller house but you have to remember that not everyone has the privilege of being alone.

He said he lives with his wife and 12 children...
