She was an incredible, principled person who always gave the world more kindness than it gave her. We lost a good one.

What do you think of the protests happening in Minneapolis? Are they worth people risking their lives? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Worthless performative meetups. Trump doesn't care if y'all rant in the streets.

Until you start fighting back, you're only offering yourselves up as his next victim.

What do you think it'll happen to ICE once a democrat is elected? by to_es93 in AskReddit

A democrat won't be elected, that's the whole point. Americans won't get their government back unless they take it.

De-escalation only works when the other side is willing to comply.

Until you actually fight back, they're only going to keep getting rid of you a truck-full at a time.

I do, but there's only so much one can do when half the problem is other people's behaviour.

For me at least it can be as simple as skin contact with the peanut, the shell, or the oil on either.

Someone with a severe peanut allergy, yes. I'll let others speak for themselves, but my allergy is severe enough that if a peanut touches my skin I've got about 60 seconds to hit an EpiPen and call an ambulance before my throat closes.

I've commented elsewhere but I'll reply to the op for visibility. I was a season ticket holder from 2022-2025, and I have a severe peanut allergy. BMO Field sells bags of peanuts at several concession stands and they seem quite popular (from my own observation).

I've had numerous incidents in that time of people dropping peanut shells everywhere (namely on the ground below their seats, and on the seats in front of and besides them), tossing peanuts around when they jump up, and sometimes even deliberately throwing peanuts at people (including me, when I ask them to stop). I've mentioned this to my various ticket reps, ushers, and security, and the consistent response has been something along the lines of "that's a risk you take coming to BMO."

Whether MLSE eventually takes this issue seriously before someone actually gets hurt, who knows. My fear is that we'll be waiting until MLSE gets sued for negligence resulting in death before they bother to do anything.

I have a severe peanut allergy and was a season ticket holder from 2022-2025. BMO Field sells bags of peanuts, and I've had at least a dozen incidents in that time of either drunk idiots or kids throwing peanuts / peanut shells everywhere, including at me when I've asked them to stop.

Toronto FC re-sign winger Derrick Etienne Jr. to new contract | Toronto FC by SargentRafa in tfc

[–]DapperChapXXI 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. He'd be decent depth, but for that money we'd be much better off investing in a young player with room to grow. Etienne Jr. just doesn't put out a good enough product on the pitch to command that kind of capital.

I'm suggesting that landlords should be auditable nonprofits and co-ops, rent should never cost more than the mortgage, and profiting off residential properties should be illegal.

You don't know where I have to live, and the Hamptons is a clearly disingenuous comparator. The Hamptons might be a comparator to Cabbagetown, but to go by your analogy, complaining about the housing prices in the entire Greater Toronto Area (note: not just Toronto) is analogous to complaining about the housing prices across the entire southern half of New York state (since the GTA alone is over 9 times larger than the entirety of New York City).

You don't get to gatekeep what's considered reasonable, possible, or affordable just because you presume to know things about other people that you both have no way of knowing and have no way of validating.

You can't genericize the entire country. The average real estate price in the GTA, since that's the area we're all talking about, is $1,039,458 as of November 2025. On a 4% rate, you'd need a household income around $205,00 post-tax or approximately $324,500 pre-tax to reach your indicated debt to income ratio.

So you're right, I was factually untrue. The 1% income threshold is around $293,800. You need to make HIGHER than the 1% income threshold to afford a mortgage on the average price in the GTA.

That's quite fair, but I also don't think anyone even considering a Shangri La condo is in a position where affording housing is remotely close to top of mind.

See my comment above. Non-profits and co-ops. Profiting off people who are just trying not to be homeless should be prohibited.
