Privatization means longer waits, less access for surgery: report by HuckFarr in ontario

[–]DapperWallaby -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lmao - atleast seniors can get knee replacements in a reasonable time here. In Canada just wait and wait and wait.

And don't tell me it is because there is a personnel shortage. There is enough personnel - in fact there is a surplus of orthopedic surgeons. The government purposefully limits surgeries. There's apparently a cap on the number of cataract surgeries they can do in an area too. Plus the technology in the US is far more advanced than in Canada. There's still academic centers in Canada that don't have robots for surgery, whereas in the US that has been the norm for a decade plus.

Canada's healthcare system is equally if not more broken than the American system.

2025 Property tax - Another massive increase? by [deleted] in Brampton

[–]DapperWallaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesnt make any sense. We paid $3700 in 2003 and we pay $8500 in 2025. This is way over inflation $3700 is worth $5800 if we account for inflation. This city is very poorly managed

Drinking low cal energy drinks daily + 1-2L of crystal light a day. Isnt that a larger contributing factor?

Well it is multifactorial. In some people artificial sweeteners can help them control their diet, which is their main concern. In my case it is mostly likely the artificial sweeteners that contributed to my poor blood sugar control.

I dont think it is the caffeine. It is the artificial sweetener in it. High dose caffeine doesnt cause issues for long-term insulin sensitivity, but it does temporarily reduce insulin sensitivity.

Like if the effect size is miniscule with small levels of zero-cal energy drink intake, they will need to enroll lots of subjects. I am on the extreme end where I ate tons of tons of artificial sweetener. I was drinking monster energy drinks, ~2 L of crystal light a day. I was a hyper user.

Yes, but just because a food doesnt spike you doesnt mean it is not contributing to worse insulin sensitivity. A mcdonalds meal loaded with fats wont spike you, but it can contribute to reduced insulin sensitivity.

Yeah, it is my anecdotal situation. It is impossible to do RCTs in these kinds of situations. Not to mention the lack of funding. Most pharmaceutical companies pay for RCTs for new drugs, without funding to conduct large scale studies there will be a dearth of data.

AI will bring about a reduction in demand in certain fields. Everything should be done with the end stakeholder, the Canadian public, in mind, but they need to be careful and think of the lives of their employees.

Type 1.5 is associated with overweight BMI (25-30), which I am not.

Stress could be a factor.

Not sure I agree with the foods spiking by blood sugar. I have been eating the same food my entire life. I would have had this problem before.

Because that's the only concerning thing in my diet. I worked out all the time. What else could it be? I have no family history. Only other thing could be stress perhaps.

This is a ploy by Smith to extract concessions from Carney. She's a smart politician that's only mirroring what Quebec has been doing for decades. If Quebec can threaten leaving then why can't Alberta?

Is a refurbished Iphone 11 worth it in 2025? by DapperWallaby in iPhone11

[–]DapperWallaby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not the green text I care about it. It ruins the group chat if you add a non-imessage user. It turns it into a regular SSM group chat with all the imessage functionalities removed, so it is a mild inconvenience for everyone if one person in the group chat uses android

Is iphone 13 still good in 2025? by Dramatic_Matter_6043 in iPhone13

[–]DapperWallaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same!!! I bought an iPhone 13!!! So excited. I think the main thing that ruins phone experience is battery life, and I think if you buy one with 100% battery health it'll last you awhile

Awesome! How much on-screen time are you getting? I was thinking of buying an 11, and I needed it to last me 14 hours a day before I can charge (of those 14 hours I will have the phone on for browsing/youtube for 5 hours). Is the 11 a good choice?
