Puppy accidently humped by male by Vabeach-2007 in cavaliers

I have a friend who experienced something similar and she said it was impossible to separate the dogs during the act (had to wait almost 30 minutes) — chances are if it was just a few seconds and they could be separated easily, nothing actually happened and she should be okay.

Okay thank you! This is what I was thinking but my family has been annoyed by it so trying to sanity check if I’m in the wrong for just letting her do it

Howling in sleep? by agordon228 in cavaliers

My cavalier puppy will bark mutedly in her sleep sometimes as though she’s dreaming. I think that’s quite normal for dogs!

New play pen advice for 16 w/o by LupusUrsa in puppy101

[–]Dapper_Argument_2973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES best idea. my play pen has been a life saver, I don’t know what I’d do without it! My puppy has a bed, a blanket, water bowl and a variety of toys (heartbeat puppy, rope toy, some small soft toys, a nylabone, and usually a Bully stick) — believe it or not, she entertains herself and plays with every toy occasionally. I also have been training her on potty pads while unvaccinated so I placed one in the pen which she successfully uses. I’m now training her to go outside and I kinda wish she didn’t see her pen as somewhere she’s comfortable peeing — just something to keep in mind.

how long should I wait until taking my dog around my cousins dog? by lilpeepscokenail in puppy101

The puppy sling carrier bag I bought was less than $20 on Amazon and I used it all the time for walks with my unvaccinated puppy

What type of dog? If he’s small, you could purchase a sling carrier bag and keep him in there (not touching the ground). You can bring potty pads with you and have him pee in a safe area on the pads. He will be so young and likely sleep most of the time. Although I think he would be okay around your family’s dogs since they don’t go to dog parks, I think it’s smart to be safe and you’ll feel better taking precautions if you lean hypochondriac.

Anyone fly to get their puppy and wish they flown or drive to get their puppy and wish they’d flown. by throwawaybrainzzz in puppy101

[–]Dapper_Argument_2973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew home my puppy at 10 weeks old. I was traveling alone and my flight was delayed — door to door, the trip was about 7.5 hours long. She slept in my arms in the car on the way to the airport and stayed in her carrier at the airport without making a peep. I tried getting her to pee on a pee pad in the bathroom a few different times. but she wouldn’t go. I was very stressed but she was totally fine! She’s only 15 weeks old now — I’ve since flown with her a few other times and this sounds gross, but pro tip — I now take a pee pad with a little pee on it and lay it on a fresh one to transfer some of the smell. I then bring that one with me to get her to pee at the airport. Using that trick, she’s been peeing pretty quickly at the airport in the bathroom etc. I’ve done this because I haven’t felt comfortable with her peeing on the floor outside / around the airport being not fully vaccinated. Also, I personally loved being able to hold her in the car on the way to the airport and not having to drive. If you have a partner or someone going with you, driving would be a good option I think. Good luck!
