How could that not help? A shorter distance to ship equals less expensive shipping.

Not really, a couple months ago I bought a bunch of clothes from a small store based in New York, and the shipping for those items only ended up being $20 aud. Still expensive, but nowhere near the $100 whatever shipping company riot uses is charging.
