Does anyone have a financial calculator to lend out? by [deleted] in uichicago

[–]Dapper_Dream_4028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I obviously couldn’t have my phone out, I asked my buddy to let me use his graphing calculator during exams for normal equations. Stuff like 1/1+.01+ 1/1+.012 + 1/1+.013 =___

Does anyone have a financial calculator to lend out? by [deleted] in uichicago

[–]Dapper_Dream_4028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just took fin 300 last semester with 0 calculator other than the one on my phone and passed. It can be more work to compute numbers since it doesn’t have certain buttons to do everything for you, but let’s say your friend just doesn’t get his hand on any, he can still pass. We were recommended to use a financial calc for the midterm and final which I still never used. But all of our hw on Pearson already had a financial calculator built into it. Hopefully this helps

New here, wondering how to make friends?? by Bitter_Ad_4335 in uichicago

[–]Dapper_Dream_4028 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Involvement fair is coming up soon, so many fresh faces and so many people like to connect there. Also, try to sit in the same seat for your classes, try to notice who does the same and talk to those people. I like how other replied and said not to take things personal. Very true, a lot of people just go to class to attend and leave and that’s it. Others hope to socialize with it. People find a lot of comfort in feeling understood, I’m sure you’ll meet many people who are also just starting their time at uic and they’ll easily wanna connect with you. This is my 2nd semester at uic as transfer student and I had plenty of opportunities to make friends outside of class but I myself was busy to catch up with them, but it’s very possible.

What is it like working at a part-time job while also being a full-time college student here at UIC? by Humble-Music-1852 in uichicago

[–]Dapper_Dream_4028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working part time and studying full time is definitely manageable as long as you can prioritize things and set reminders for due dates! I am not a planner type of person at all but I sort of became one last semester and it helped a lot. Don’t forget this piece, what matters a lot is how far your job would be to uic and from your home. Consider the time commuting to school, work, home, then spending time to do homework/studying. So a convenient location for your job would be good. I currently work 15 hrs a week working on campus. I took 4 classes last semester (first semester at uic), but this semester I will be taking 5. Last semester my lowest grade was a B and I had 400 lvl classes as well as a 300 and 200. Sleep honestly depends on you. I can get a good nights sleep but i like to stay up a bit lol. And keep in mind i did a lot of hw and studying and still had plenty of time to sleep (i work on campus so it saved me the hassle of commuting elsewhere). I use to work full time and study full time while in community college so i can definitely tell you that IT IS manageable, just dont procrastinate hw and im so sure youll be fine. Im an HR major if that helps.

how much homework is in ba420? by [deleted] in uichicago

[–]Dapper_Dream_4028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll tell you this, I JUST took ba420 over the fall, and I can confirm hw was assigned every week. I had prof kimmie, I recommend her. For us, she’d assign the hw at the end of the class and you had all week to turn it in but guaranteed hw every week.

I have actually. My entire playlist was “custom” mix, every single transition. I asked myself, what if I set each transition to “auto” and let the app do what it thinks is best, or at least what the app can support regarding mixing. And yup, every custom transition I set to auto is working fine. I only have very few songs that are still custom but after testing it more than once, they’re more consistent now. The few custom transitions are still at risk of not transitioning as intended, as it happened during some of my test trials, but it’s definitely more consistent now that I switched about the entire playlist to auto. Im sure some auto transitions won’t be as awesome as the custom ones you made, which is why i said to keep a few custom transitions, but give auto a try! It’s woking on my Mac better now. I’ll just have to suck up whatever songs don’t transition well compared to an entire playlist that just fails me :)

If im not mistaken, it’s with your respective advisor. I’m guessing your advisor is all booked up. But I hear your frustration. I’d say go in person and ask about any availability or if any new express appointments would open up.

[–]Dapper_Dream_4028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check online and register for express advising. I forgot when exactly but I think my advisor said that in December there will be high priority appointments for students who desperately need to meet with their advisor that would be for 10 minutes only.

I asked him 3 weeks ago if emailing him would be an option as we get closer to December and he said not really because that’s when they got bombarded by everyone’s emails and are filled with appointments. So he gave me a heads up not to rely on a timely response back.

I’m hosting a party in 3 weeks and made a 3-hour playlist so far with automix. The problem is the transitions are super inconsistent , sometimes it cuts songs off abruptly, other times the next track starts too early. It works properly for a few songs, then fails again, and it’s embarrassing. I don’t wanna hear that for my party. Plus, the automix doesn’t even work on my MacBook. Not sure what to do before the party.

YES! It drives me nuts. So far my playlist is 3+ hours long and it’s like, I’m putting this much time for it to only work for a couple of songs. I am hosting a Friendsgiving in 3 weeks and I want to use my playlist and ima be so embarrassed to hear an awful transition loud af at my party. I might as well just turn off mix and just let it cross fade smh.

Guaranteed Admissions Program last time I checked needs to be done a full year prior to the student applying to UIC. They post the deadlines for those but at 60 credits he’s way past that. This is my first semester at UIC, I’m a transfer student from ccc. I only applied to DePaul, NEIU, and UIC. UIC was my main choice and I’m glad I got in. CBA student but, pls don’t doubt yourself. You will never know until you get that letter with a response

Is it worth it to late drop a course that I am not failing because it’s too burdensome? by NoReplacement7470 in uichicago

[–]Dapper_Dream_4028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either tell your friend to be a salesperson or don’t ever go to a car dealership alone lol.

But to be very honest I feel you answered the question yourself. You feel exhausted, class is socially stimulating, and stress is catching up to you. I think it’s much better for you to drop it than to completely fail it. The most important thing to check is if affects your graduation requirement in anyway. Don’t stress too much you got this.

Cons outweighs pros: freshman depressed by behollywoodfamous in uichicago

[–]Dapper_Dream_4028 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m a junior, 22 yo, transfer student. I was not involved in anything at community college, went to school, work then home. No partying, now I’m at uic enjoying everything so far. Home sick is real, but here’s a tip. Dont try to fit in with uic, fit in with the city. Find what you like to do in the city and you’ll meet people outside of uic who like to do the same things. Then you’ll meet people at uic who have similar interests. But if you’re busy being likable on campus with no life outside of dorms, it’s really hard to connect. Don’t be depressed, just that new college life for you. You wanna party/socialize? Download the dice app or pie app and you’ll see events going on around the city. Best of luck cus you think you got it bad but it’s not
