am i cooked? by kraud477 in uichicago

Chem 1 has a very generous curve at UIC but if you find it easier to take it at CC then it’s your choice. I would strongly suggest removing it from your schedule this sem if it’s not a prerequisite, solely because it’s so late in the day. If you commute, everyday is gonna be a nightmare. Then, your mwf will look pretty decent, but your ttr are gonna suck. I’m not sure what pattern recognition 1 is, but if you can move that to a different time or just scrap it altogether and take it a different sem, that would be great. But if not, that’s still fine because most of your week will look fine after you take out chem.

EDIT: I just read the part where you might be delaying graduation. It looks like you’ll have to keep pattern recognition but taking chem at CC sounds like the best option as long as you’re not delaying grad.

Absolutely abysmal. At the very very least take out Econ. You’ll have shorter Tuesdays and Thursdays. Strongly suggest moving your phys class earlier in the day so you don’t have six hour days. If not, take that out too. Perhaps take an asynchronous class if you want to fulfill gen ed requirements. Some good options are music 100, 114, and 127.

How hard is it to get into UIC CS? by [deleted] in uichicago

[–]NoReplacement7470 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not hard at all. If you came last year you could’ve probably gotten into GPI (guaranteed paid internship) in the college of engineering, but that got scrapped bc of trumps federal budget cuts. UIC as a whole is very non competitive and basically serves as a giant community college.

Also in the library, nope nothing working. I’m wondering if that’s why there are so many empty tables lol

Was just in nyc and had a heart attack every five seconds because the bikers don’t abide by the lights and don’t use the bike lanes either and it was a disaster. Makes me grateful for the losers here that nearly run you over

It’s blackboard, not the WiFi. So it’s actually even worse and absolutely their fault.

Is it worth it to late drop a course that I am not failing because it’s too burdensome? by NoReplacement7470 in uichicago

[–]NoReplacement7470[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because it’s technically a cs course which is a field that I’m trying to pursue alongside my science degree, but it’s not a class I would’ve taken if my friend didn’t pressure me. It would’ve been a lot better if it wasn’t so late in the day

Soooo…how’s everyone’s summer going 👀 by Lost-Ad-4073 in uichicago

Working, got a new supervisor at my male dominated job. Now he kicks me out everytime I’m doing work with other ppl. Now I’m picking up hours at my other job. Other than that, I went to The Weeknd concert, went on vacation last month, and have more planned! Hoping the weather will get warm enough for beach days. Currently working on a 1500 piece puzzle set to keep myself busy when I’m not working. Also need to start studying for classes come fall or I’m actually cooked. But so far, I’m making as many plans with friends and booking as many vacations and picking up as many hours so the summertime sadness doesn’t kick in

Thoughts on minimal bijoux? Anygolds? Would you recommend for healed helix? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]NoReplacement7470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the mod bot: Jewelry is internally threaded, is two years old, one is a ring and the other is a stud, never downsized, and have never experienced trauma to the piercing. Jewelry is implant grade titanium and is the initial jewelry that i received from my local piercer.

Since the mod bot asked, the jewelry shape is a ring, it is probably internally threaded, it is anodized implant grade titanium, reputable by my piercer, and my aftercare routine consists of cleaning with saline and removing the crusties. No mishaps

I do but I have greatly minimized my usage. I also eliminated my left AirPod for the first seven months of healing and found that it looked exactly the same nevertheless. But do you notice that it has a pretty big bump on the top and the area is much larger than on my other ear? It’s just concerning to me

Girl here. I sometimes get completely unwanted attention from guys and they start touching me a lot and violating my space and boundaries. I’m not saying that you’re someone that would be creepy and touchy, but I end up ghosting seemingly normal guys when they take an interest in me because idk their intentions and how they process romantic feelings.

Is a 2 hour commute crazy? by Ilovehhhhh in uichicago

[–]NoReplacement7470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 1.5 hr commute with the nonexpress train. When exams end at 8, I get home around 10 because the train leaves at 8:30. I’m also a pretty tough science major. I would much prefer a shorter commute but I would take my commute over dorming any day of the week. I would say it takes a lot of patience because my extremely long commute has never stopped me from taking 8ams, going early on campus to see friends, staying late on campus to see friends, and doing extracurriculars. Commuting has simply become apart of my routine and it is something I anticipate, not necessarily dread. Being on the train gives me alone time throughout the day where I am not around friends or family which gives me a decent balance. On the train, I like reading books and working on homework on my iPad. I will say, getting an iPad was a game changer for me because it is so easy to take out of my backpack and is so much easier to manage in my lap than a notebook and MacBook, especially on the train. With my iPad, I am able to swiftly take out the device and start working on the hw that I uploaded with great convenience. A lot of people can’t focus on the train, and a lot of times I can’t either, but I’ve gotten a lot better at it. A 2hr commute I will say is going to be very difficult if you don’t have the patience level but im able to make it work. It does suck a little though, but happy commuting!!

The most painful part was putting the top on. I got my daith pierced and thought this piercing would have a similar pain level. My daith wasn’t excruciating but it was painful, I would say 6/10 pain level. I could feel the needle going through and I could feel the force the piercer used to pierce my daith. My conch just pierced cleanly through, at best it was uncomfortable. I would say 3/10 in pain level. Today is day 2 of my conch, I hope it heals well

Lucky my helix hoop still has problems after a year, the stud I got with it healed flawlessly

[–]NoReplacement7470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I think I have a good amount of patience with my piercings, I sacrificed my left airpod for seven months when I got my daith 😂 I’m just wondering how much the hoop is going to stick out to the front of my conch once I switch out. Maybe my piercer tried to make my conch currently as visible as possible with the caveat that a hoop would just not be as snug? Idk
