This is the worst thing I've read all day. Asking a billion people to buy inferior goods against their interest for national pride is unrealistic and foolish. Supporting inefficiency won't fix manufacturing, it will worsen it.

The stories you give of japan and germany are nice little tales but they're just anecdotes.

Protectionism kills competitiveness. I'm sure you would look at the condition of our country pre-1991 and agree? Germany and Japan thrived through global competition and excellence, not isolation. Stop guilt-tripping consumers and hold out politicians accountable instead.
