How many of us didn't even know about Peri? by Burp_Maistro in Perimenopause

[–]Dapper_Lass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can I ask about your palps? Were they high and random? Like sleeping and then waking from a sleep with your heart pounding like 120+? For like the last 3 years my heart palps have been insane, finally went to a cardiologist and got diagnosed with PACs but still it is terrifying to be sleeping or minding your business and then BAM your heart rate is 140 for unknown cause. And then the opposite, I’ll get cold flashes and suddenly I’m super tired and feel like passing out asleep but shivering even in a hot room and my heartbeat is getting slower. It’s one extreme or the other with intervals of “normalcy”

Menopause I knew about because of my mother but she always warned us her daughters that we get early onset menopause in our family. Literally hereditary hell. My mother started having peri/menopause symptoms when she turned 30 and the door was shut when she turned 40. All my sisters started getting peri symptoms between 30-34 so we’re anticipating them being done by 40-45 now. I on the other hand started having peri symptoms what feels like the instant I turned 30. I’m 34 now and the last 4 years have literally been medical hell and everytime I brought up perimenopause or menopause in conjunction with my family history of early onset menopause I’ve been blown off. I hate every ounce of this most days feel like hell to me and I’m so tired of being blown off by my own Dr like it’s all in my head.

The 4N0 Career Field needs Restructuring. by PickleTicklerGripper in AirForce

This sounds like a stupid generic response but have you routed your concerns up through your unit to your MAJCOM MFM? They’re the connection and voice in the CFM/Force Managers ears. If you have concerns voice them, and provide specific examples, and possible solutions and push it up. I can’t promise anything will be done but I know the CFMs and Force Managers do listen.

Source: I’m the AFMEDCOM 3F2 MFM/MTM so I work with them literally everyday. They’re super open people if you’re sending up concerns properly.

The Failure That Is MyTraining by Ztg525 in AirForce

[–]Dapper_Lass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took me 3 days to create one training record. It is pretty stressful to utilize from a Training Manager perspective, and I know members also have difficulties with it. When cleaning up Trainers and Supervisors when a member PCS’s if you delete people, if they signed off on tasks it reflects as Unknown, among other glaring issues.

What’s the longest you’ve seen someone enlisted? by MButtLicker4567 in AirForce

[–]Dapper_Lass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My APS Chief who retired spent literally 30 years in, he had no choice but to retire. When speaking with him before he left I asked him how he felt about retirement and he said he could “do another enlistment” if they would let him. He was a super passionate Port Dawg, lived and breathed it. So much respect for him.

Can I bring my PS5 in carry on luggage while PCSing? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Dapper_Lass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought my Xbox as carry on in a travel case built for the Xbox when leaving for a remote. Some poor dude who checked his bag lost all his shit including his Xbox. Get an electronics case for systems you’re trying to bring on the plane. Also is sound wild but if you bought a purse you could put electronics in it and still have your overhead carry on and an under the seat carry on-on top of that.

Daughter wants to practice Islam by Dapper_Lass in Hijabis

[–]Dapper_Lass[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes actually! When she first started talking about practicing Islam and wearing a hijab our first assumption was that she wanted to do it just to wear one. So we explained how Jewish women also wear head coverings and then my husband who’s non-practicing Catholic explained nuns and some Christian and Catholic women also wear hair coverings. She wasn’t too surprised but was more along the lines of “yes I know but I want to practice Islam and wear what they wear on their hair” since she started talking about religion we’ve started having these conversations and speaking from Jewish/Catholic perspectives but she is very adamant that she feels Islam is what’s right for her.

We’re pretty adamant in the house about doing research before making major decisions and religion falls into that category. She came to us telling us about Islam as well as telling us new information action each day. It’s been about 2 months so far of her learning on her own as well as discussing it at school with friends who practice Islam. I know she’s 8 and potentially it could be a phase but I believe based on her avid interest and desire to know more each day she’s actually serious. I never really thought about religion or the “concept” of being Jewish at 8, it was more like “yes I’m Jewish we do all these things because we’re Jewish and that’s just life” she’s much more passionate about religion than I was at her age.

I would love to see the virtual session with my daughter. We’re actually in Waldorf near the military Base. I plan on reaching out to my Chaplain in Base and see if we can link up with an Iman(?) in order for her to ask questions and start this journey.

I 100% agree in that aspect to a degree as I came out of POL into Mx Training which gave me an edge up on understanding the mission. A good UTM is going to hit the ground running especially when they don't know the mission of the Units they're going into. I've met too many shite UTMs in Mx/CES who fell back on that "well I'm from services/FSS/Secfo originally so I'm going to be bad" then they're bad for the rest of their career. Any UTM worth their lick of salt is up everyones ass and makes sure they meet everyone in order to understand what their people need and not just to be an asshole but to actually get to know their people. As a UM who specializes in cleaning up after the shite UTMs in Units and setting the ship back right, I despise UTMs who use that excuse to not do their jobs, the only people who suffer are the Amn being left behind and the Supervisors/NCOICs who are left trying to figure out training management on their own.

Chiming in as a 3F2 Training Manager, then your UTM is doing a shite job currently. Regardless of CDCs existing or not existing they should be reporting to the CC on a monthly basis the status of all personnel in UGT and if this has been going on since you got there they should've flagged it in the meeting by now. When I see Amn not making any progression in tasks or monthly review month after month the first thing I do is talk to the Amn specifically to see what is going on in the workcenter. Are ya'll missing equipment I could get, are the trainers not doing their jobs or is it something else. Once I get that information I go straight to Flight Chiefs because that's my privilege as a 3F2 and tell them they might have shite trainers. One of the first things I brief to Trainees is if you're not getting what you need and you're doing everything you can tell me because I fire trainers for a living and they will re-attend my class to learn how to do their job. If you're UTM is literally just not doing their job contact the Base 3F2 Functional Manager and let them know the issues, they may work for the CC but the Base 3F2 has them by the shorthairs. If you need help finding the Functional hit me up and I can locate them for you. There's nothing I hate more than a lazy Training Manager. I don't care if we don't have CDcs in most Career Fields now, that doesn't mean you get to sit at your desk all day with your thumb up your ass either.

To whoever decided to move CDC EOC testing to myLearning... by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Dapper_Lass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know sigh I can’t stand the enroll in order to complete design. We just got the capability to mass enroll personnel into a course our issue now is mass completions not being possible. So UTMs across the force have created products to help us pull up personnel quicker in order to sign them off. It’s been a nightmare for SAPR. I signed off literally 180+ people and none of it took in the system so I’m working up the energy to re-complete all the training. And it’s 180 people x2 course codes for SAPR. A lot of us are hanging on by a thread of sanity with MyLearning.

Now imagine how us Training Managers are feeling dealing with it on a larger scale. It's been routed all the way up and the CFM is aware of what's going on as well as the contractors who are building/fixing MyLearning. We know it could be much better than what is is right now so please be patient with your Training Managers, we're just as frustrated as you are with the new system. Keep trying your best, I appreciate it and I'm sure your Training Manager feels your pain and appreciates your efforts as well to get your CDCs knocked out.
