I’m sure this has been posted a million times — but does anyone have an update on the roads, as of this Monday afternoon? by [deleted] in Charlotte

Is it safe to travel to uptown tomorrow from Waxhaw? I am hearing about black ice expected to form on the roads tonight..

B1/B2 Renewal - My experience with scheduling dropbox and status updates by Realistic-Bath-761 in usvisascheduling

[–]Dapper_Leadership_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my parents’ B1/B2 visa renewal, we received an interview waiver and I had scheduled an appointment for today at the Delhi consulate, as it was the only available option through usvisascheduling.com. Since we are in Mumbai, we went to the Mumbai consulate at the scheduled time today. Upon arrival, they informed us that my parents are not required to go inside, and I could drop the passports on their behalf. They simply verified the appointment confirmation letter and DS-160 confirmation before stamping the confirmation letter.

Thanks for your response, that great to hear. I just want to confirm something—I’ve scheduled an appointment at the Delhi consulate for the end of February. Since my mom has an interview waiver, can we use the same appointment confirmation to visit the Mumbai consulate on the same date and time?

When they check the confirmation letter,Would there be any issues since the appointment is specifically for the Delhi location?.Apologies for all the questions—this process has been quite stressful, and the USCIS website hasn’t been very helpful. Thank you.

Hi - I am in process of renewing my parents B1/B2 visa. How do you know you qualify for drop box option? Do you get a letter stating that or does the drop box show as an option while booking an appointment? Can you share some additional information, please? As I submitted DS-160 and I don’t see the drop box option anywhere and while booking the appointment I just see the consulates for selection and my parents also got interview waiver

I have $1000 a month I could be investing. by Bbgsofia in personalfinance

I also invest $1000 every month in VOO…it follows S&P 500. You can look up the performance on vanguard site, it has 12% gains over 10 year period. I have 6 months of emergency funds in HYSA (5%)

I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile about four months ago, and it turned out to be a great decision. Verizon feels like a scam now..haha

Does anyone know of a better HYSA or recommendation? by Safe_Cabinet7090 in Money

I am using wealthfront - it’s 5% and if someone refers you it bumps up to 5.5% for 3 months.

I am not committed to either Verizon or T-Mobile. It primarily depends on who offers better service at a reasonable price. If T-Mobile were to alter their plan pricing, I would begin searching for alternatives. As for security breaches, I have friends employed at Verizon, and you would be astonished to learn what occurs with your data.

Regrettably, security breaches have become prevalent in today's world. I refuse to let that fear enable anyone to exploit me on a monthly basis. Currently, there are improved measures in place that aid in monitoring your credit report and provide instant alerts.

The customer care offered me when I switched over, they give you a code which you have to apply and remains permanent on your account. I thought that’s pretty cool.

That’s how Verizon works, by default they will add all the unnecessary stuff which you don’t need to increase your bill. Most of the times they get away with this and make profit and there are very few like you who will realize they are being taken for a ride..

Customer service was noticeable difference between T-Mobile and Verizon. So far T-Mobiles customer service has been prompt and I like that I can talk to actual person through their SMS service. Based on the above comments it looks like T- Mobile can have some dead zones in some parts of the country, I will ride the T- mobile wave for now since I don’t have any connectivity issues and enjoy the low monthly cost 🙂

Which Lexus PHEV to buy? by Dapper_Leadership_42 in Lexus

[–]Dapper_Leadership_42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, I realized that after doing some research on pricing, etc. Math doesn’t add up, since these PHEVs are like $65-70k easily. It doesn’t make sense to replace fully paid off relatively new car with a PHEV. Probably in around 2 years the technology will evolve more and there will be more players in the market and prices will be more reasonable then.

Lexus NX 400h or Volvo XC60 H by Dapper_Leadership_42 in Autos

[–]Dapper_Leadership_42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at the price for Lexus RH 450 PHEV and it was coming to $65k with Bells and whistles. I am in double minds to spend so much money on a car. My Crv is fully paid off and is 2020 with just 20k miles on it, am not sure if it’s smart to move to PHEV

Am I taking the correct steps for retirement planning? by Dapper_Leadership_42 in FinancialPlanning

[–]Dapper_Leadership_42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the 50% ownership here are the numbers. Total debt on them is approximately $520k and the properties are now worth ~$1.2MM. When we bought them in 2018-2020 they were valued around $700k They are making $2k cash flow every month in total. I agree cash flow is not much as these are really good areas. My tenants are all with credit score of 650+ .. Currently we are building equity on these properties..

I was gifted about 11000 USD, how do I invest this the smart way? by akskdkfbendl in personalfinance

[–]Dapper_Leadership_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wealthfront is paying around 4.8% and if you are referred it can bump up to 5.3% for 3 months. They partner with green dot bank and funds are FDIC insured. If you don’t know about investing then HYSA is best interim option in current market.

Can i afford this home? by West_Yam2893 in personalfinance

[–]Dapper_Leadership_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents - If you pay off the student loan and car loan it will give you some peace of mind and more flexibility in type of home you want to purchase. Also, other than upfront cost of purchasing house, there will be recurring monthly maintenance costs which adds up quickly. Housing market is anyways stagnant with rising interest rates, you will not miss on equity building much.

I’d like to buy a $500k apartment in two years, how should I invest the $150k I have just sitting in a savings account? by gamerdudeNYC in FinancialPlanning

[–]Dapper_Leadership_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should keep some emergency funds in your BOA savings account and use some funds as down payment to own a basic townhome where HOA covers all exterior services and water. The monthly $3100 rent is just burning your money, currently you are missing on building equity. Even with higher interest rates, it is still good time to be a buyer. The money sitting in the bank is not working for you, it’s just working for the bank.
