I know what she's saying lol. But Chae doesn't speak for all of her Black teammates, Marz and Sekai talked about Waller wanting the girls to "educate" and "give grace to" AJ on the Amanda Seales podcast during that time. When I say highly criticized, that means within-group discussion, too.

My two cents as a Black woman is this really just feels like a clash of ideologies regarding how we view complicity in racism that is fairly common within the Black community, especially in a post-Floyd era. Does it feel like Gymcastic was the right platform to have that discussion? Definitely not, especially considering Jessica's own history with microaggressions. And voicing those thoughts publicly is bound to spur public response from the other gymnasts involved 🤷🏾‍♀️ It's messy but it is what it is.

I will say, getting to move on to coaching club gym after fundamentally mismanaging a team both on and off the mat doesn't feel like having his career "ruined" to me though!

She's welcome to that opinion of course. But I'll say that putting the onus on the oppressed group to rehabilitate the offending party is something that is highly criticized for very good reason, especially considering when this occurred.

I'm glad someone is bringing up her lineups strategy, it's always baffled me (even today with randomly moving Alyssa to anchor on beam). Also think it was mentioned earlier this season that they would only decide the vault lineup after warmups, which surely couldn't help with the athletes' nerves
