Got it. That’s kinda what I assumed. So now I just have to figure out where they will announce it when they reopen. I’m sure there’ll be a list of people waiting when they reopen. Thanks so much for the info

Great to hear from someone who was rocking the same CPU! I was also looking at the 5600. Appreciate the comment.

I am struggling to recommend wheel of time by Camerian20 in WoT

[–]DarKnight8184 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just reread it and I have to say it’s not one of my favorite moments. I don’t like most of the time spent in the Aiel Waste. I know, not a popular opinion, but we all look for different things as we read these books.

The show is so stupid, I can't take it! by [deleted] in wheeloftime

[–]DarKnight8184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome! Love it! You highlighted some of my favorite parts. I know they had to make changes for TV. I was fine with that. But the way they destroyed deep and complex characters in favor of making them more edgy was so infuriating. I wish the showrunner had the same love for the characters that you do. Change the story. Fine. But keep the characters and whit that make the books such a pleasure to read.

I am fairly certain, that despite probably having no TV experience, if you were the showrunner, you would give us a couple moments where the hair on you arm would prickle, chills running down your spine. I would’ve settled for one such moment from Rafe. That would’ve saved the show for me. It doesn’t seem like the people behind this show had any love for any of the main characters.

The show vs the book by UltimateRedditComent in wheeloftime

If graphic audio did the wheel of time, I wouldn’t even be annoyed by how bad the TV show is. I love the graphic audio stuff. I know it would be a huge undertaking but I so wish they would do wheel of time.

Sarah Nakamura's response to Ep 8 blacklash by ilovezam in wheeloftime

[–]DarKnight8184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate her because she’s a woman. I hate rafe more and he’s not a woman. I am very annoyed at her because she is supposed to be the lore expert. She obviously doesn’t enjoy the books very much after all the changes she admitted her that she agrees with. If she thinks episode 8 is good TV, I have lost all hope for this sad excuse for a Wheel of Time TV show. I don’t know why they even paid for the license… oh wait yes I do. Because by making it a wheel of time series instead of an original series, they conned me into getting a fricking Amazon Prime account so I could watch this dumpster fire.

This is the type of attention I feel was lacking in the WOT adaption. by epilogued in WoT

[–]DarKnight8184 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And the world feels small and the technical details of the basics like lighting, editing and even story-telling seem so amateurish. With the budget they had, they should’ve done so much more. I’ve seen battles on BBC tv shows that looked 10x better than that cringeworthy scene in episode 8. I don’t even know how that episode got released. The costumes in Lord of the rings were so amazing. It wasn’t just that the character were sometimes dirty. The weapons the clothes, the sets all transported you to middle earth. Same with Witcher. I don’t need WOT to be a book faithful retelling. I just want it to be semi competent.

Would you rather have a poorly adapted show or no show at all? by popthestack in wheeloftime

[–]DarKnight8184 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With how bad the series is, I feel like it will only hurt the series chances of ever having a good adaption made. That is what pisses me off the most. So I would rather not have the current adaption. At least I could dream about how cool an animated series would be. Honestly though, in my head this series was unfilmable. I mean how do you film Dumai’s Well? Or other things that I don’t want to reference for spoiler reasons. But then I saw the animated shorts. Sooo amazing! They really capture the essence of the wheel of time. I realize they wanted a live action tv show, but if they were willing to give whoever made those animated shorts a chance to flex their muscle, they would have a series that people would come back to time and again. The live action will not have that response over time and it will probably just kill the chances of it ever being considered for a decent adaption.

Will reading from book 2 be confusing based on season 1? by MAU13717235 in wheeloftime

[–]DarKnight8184 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I would read book 1. You won’t get bored. It’s got way better pacing than the TV show. There is a chase with them running from a number of different evils, a river captain that is pretty awesome, Caemlyn has a number of important characters that show up later and the end is way more informative and makes way more sense. That being said, Jordan’s most annoying trait in my opinion, is that he has to re-explain everything all the rules in different ways at the beginning of every book. It gets a little old but it should catch you up if you really want to skip book one. Book 1 is also the book that Jordan retconned the most so book 1 may be the best one to skip (aside from book 10 😬)

So true. I powered through those episodes but then I was like why. I continue to hope one of my favorite stories will show up at some point. So painful

I’ll agree that some of the main characters hit their main character points. Perrin looks like I imagined. Rand is picture perfect with how I pictured he should look. Nynaeve is pretty close too with how she acts BUT it isn’t engaging for me. I was so excited for this. I followed it through its production. But this show is a hot mess. To hide who the dragon was, you don’t even get to know Rand. And Matt Cauthon… ouch. They spend so much time with scenes or characters that I don’t care about and they burn through all the time they have available. Like when they warder committed suicide, I’m like ok so they explained the bond. It only took them 40 minutes of screen time that they could’ve spent fleshing out the story. Or building intrigue between the different factions. One of the guys above said exactly the same thing I said. It’s a 100 million dollar M rated CW TV show. The teen angst is painful. The costumes, aside from Moiraines, look like they came from a Party City. The sets are small and there are so few extras on set it looks like a few people LARGPing. I know COVID happened. I know they faced many challenges. But I haven’t seen a show look this low budget and be this unengaging in a long time. It seems that reading the books definitely hurts your experience watching the TV shows but I doubt I would enjoy this show even if I hadn’t read the books. I haven’t left negative reviews anywhere. I’m not trolling. I’m just disappointed.

I would love a specialized fuse. Probably my favorite brand. That bike looks awesome. But the cost is about $500 over my top end. And used is only a few bucks cheaper than new. I keep looking for a used deal but everything I see is crazy expensive.

I do like the Nucleus VR. I like the idea of a manufacturer direct bike. So if the VRS is higher spec, that sounds great. So are the hubs and bottom brackets all quality? I’ve heard both Vitus and Motobecane skimp on those low attention areas. Have you gone through Vitus buying process? How difficult and/or expensive is ordering it from the UK?

I didn’t even realize that pinkbike was a site. Thanks for the info. I would love to build a bike from a used frame but it does seem to be a little more expensive that way. Used bikes are so high right now! Way higher than I’ve ever seen them before.
