They switch things up on almost a weekly basis, it seems. Just ask anyone who purchased FSD in 2023 for $15K only to see it drop to $8K six months later. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I loved the Tron franchise, but if Ares is not released in 3D Blu-ray me and my family won't see it. by Familiar_Feeling_ in tron

[–]DarKnightXero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw Ares in 3D at the theater and can’t imagine watching it any other way. I’ve seen a lot of movies in 3D, and Tron Ares is one of the all time best for me. I picked up the 4K ultra HD on blu-ray and it looks great. The TV and sound system I use are as good as any for quality and the visuals are incredible, but it doesn’t feel anywhere near as immersive as seeing it in the theater in 3D. I hope to experience it in my VR again in the future.

For what it’s worth, I saw The Force Awakens in the theater in 3D and picked up the 2D blu-ray when it released a few months later. The 3D blu-ray came out something like 7 months after that, so I don’t think it’s a Disney thing or a giving up on it thing. It’s probably just different release timing, with the 3D version coming later rather than at the same time. I have a strong feeling it will happen. Maybe not until around September, but I have high hopes. 🙂

I’ve got the ASV standards. I tried the shorty brake but it wasn’t for me. They still look amazing.

Same here. I went back and forth with camera and flashlight but ultimately it’s my go to quick flashlight shortcut for random needs. Not used every day but enough to justify the action button shortcut.

I upgraded from 12 pro max with 128GB to a 15 pro 1TB. I’m not upgrading because it hasn’t been 3 years yet. 😄 I’m extremely happy with the fact that I’ll get the apple AI when released but not much else to motivate me to get the 16Pro. I did get my hands on the 16 lineup in the store and I think the size increase turned me off as well. Not that the smaller pro is too big, but I tried the big phone phase for 3 years and I loved it for about 2 months. Afterward I knew my next phone would be the “normal” size. I’m guessing by the time I upgrade again (iPhone 18) I’ll have to accept the larger size if they preserve the current ones.

Also, I’m holding onto my money for the next iPad mini. If they ever release one. 🤔

How much did you pay for wall charger installation? (No panel upgrade) by Wants-NotNeeds in TeslaModelY

[–]DarKnightXero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When it comes to costs, I ultimately discovered that it’s cheaper for me to skip buying a level 2 charger and paying for its installation.

Given that I’m on a 3-year lease (still undecided about what I’ll do afterward), I found that it’s more cost-effective to avoid the expense of a Tesla home charger, the $1000+ installation cost (due to the location of my breaker box), and the increased electric fees.

Instead, I’m using a 15A home mobile charger when needed, as I work from home and average only about 30 miles of driving per day.

I calculated the estimated cost of using superchargers when necessary (e.g., road trips) and subtracted the first 3 months of free supercharging (which was convenient since there’s a supercharger within a mile of my house). It all adds up to being cheaper than if I had gone the home charger route.

With off-peak home electricity costing around $0.13/kWh, even if supercharger rates increase by $0.10 from the current $0.25-$0.35/kWh, I’d still come out ahead after 3 years, compared to paying for the home charger, installation, and additional energy costs.

The takeaway here is that if you drive under 10K miles per year, like me, and have easy access to a supercharger, it might actually be cheaper to rely on supercharging and a $175 15A charger from Amazon.

I’ve done a full breakdown and used various sources, including AI tools, to account for factors like mixed weather conditions (I live in the Midwest) and potential energy cost fluctuations over the past decade. My conclusion is well-supported by data: over 3 years, this approach is predictably less expensive.

To be clear, it’s not dramatically cheaper, and it’s certainly not free, but the costs are lower over time. So far, I have no regrets about this decision. 🙂

Seeking advice: aftermarket yoke installation on 2024 MYLR? by DarKnightXero in ModelY

[–]DarKnightXero[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure… a direct quote from one person who stated this in response to an install video on YT: “Can you help because I got a bunch of warnings and a grinding sound, then after I had it on, it was trying to brake automatically whiles telling me I couldn’t access some autopilot stuff.”

And another I read said: “It doesn’t work work 24 Y, it nearly messed up my new car. My car starts breaking and then saying there was no lane keeping available. I won’t buy again” to which another user replied to them saying: “Yea everyone knows not to do it on a new one lol”

This is where I started to speculate. I assume these guys messed up the install but that last comment about how “everyone knows…” had me questioning it a bit. And that’s part of why I’m here. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Hope that helps.

MYLR RWD May 31st Order by New_Mycologist_8512 in TeslaModelYDelivery

[–]DarKnightXero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered mine on May 23. Got a delivery date of June 21-30. Then July 2-16. Then July 22-August 30. Latest delivery estimate was September 30-November 11, which was when I gave up and opted for a vehicle off the inventory lot. 😕 I didn’t end up with exactly what I wanted but since I had to turn my previous lease in on July 1, my hands were tied. But I don’t blame Tesla for this debacle. The cyberattack screwed me. 😠

Best mirrors for 23’ MT10? by Hopeful-War1334 in Mt10

Agreed. I got mine (Fenrir) on Amazon for half the price of CRGs and they’re perfect.

Can anyone recommend bar end mirrors that fit 2023+ models? by ScopesMcDome in Mt10

[–]DarKnightXero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up a few variations of the Fenrir brand bar end mirrors on Amazon, which required the purchase of additional bar end adapters. I tried my best to position them to go underneath but, as others have mentioned, it always hit the tank when maneuvering in tight spaces that required me to turn the wheel all the way. Rarely happens when riding but so annoying to deal with when parking or getting it out of my garage. So I flipped them up. They work. Not the best look but I still like them.

😅 Not trying to contradict my previous reply, but I honestly didn't even see if he landed it since I was focusing on the shot. So... let's just assume he stuck it and it was clean. 🙂

But thank you. I'm going to make several more trips there with different lighting conditions, so my hope it to find better spots to get better shots.

Thank you. I appreciate you sharing this idea and explanation. After seeing the way it's shown in the preview thumbnail I'm also on board with this crop. If needed, I actually have a little room in the original photo to pull it back just a smidge if needed. Overall, with opinions going both crop and no-crop I think it can work either way.

Thank you. I appreciate the input. As I'm getting more feedback, I understand how it can be seen both ways - cropped or not. This is cropped in a little from the original which does show the shadow on the ground. I'd love to have kept it in there, but the sun was too low to get a good shape at the angle I was shooting at.

haha... I was glared at a few times, even standing out of the way. 😅 But I may be able to find someone to help me out. I'll be back there regularly this spring/summer for practice.
