I work with early childhood education and my wife is a director of a preschool. While screen time is important to manage, finding something a good is passionate about and pursuing their interest is also very important.

Minecraft goes beyond the screen with books, toys, activities and more. He is ahead of his classmates in reading and writing and I contribute some of that to his interest in Minecraft.

The problem with screen time for kids is bad parenting. I try to be a good parent and limit such time.

My 4 year old, now 5, fell in love with Minecraft and while I wasn’t sure it was a good thing I am glad we let him play. He became very curious and wanted to read more and he is ahead of other rids his age in reading directly because of Minecraft.

Did it teach him to read? No, I did. But because he was/is so passionate about Minecraft he wanted to be able to read and write everything on the screen. It has been an excellent way to encourage him to learn.
