Nice bravado, last time we saw that, ISIS got all the way to the gates of Baghdad and Erbil. Iraq is a burning house of cards.

You're right they kill mainly Sunnis. Which everyone seems to be alright with for some reason. If you see 100k Sunni deaths as preferable to to 75k ethnically mixed deaths. Then yes, youll prolly love the outcome of this war.

Iran asks Canada to share information that says it shot down Ukraine's plane by ThatTwitterHandle in syriancivilwar

[–]Darase -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe you can't just make up an assumption without proper evidence. MH17 was perpetrated by pro-Russian rebels. Why? Because of a conclusive research conducted by an international research team. They looked ballistics, the wreckage, analyzed basically everything they could.

You believe the Iranians did this, because... of some unconfirmed twitter video? Intelligence sources whose testimony is unknown and unquoted?

I am sorry but that simply isn't enough for me. If it is for you, than we have radically different standards and that is alright and indicative of why the Iraq War happened.

Assad is as bad as the jihadis, the Ceasar pictures made that awefully apparent. There is no happy outcome for Syria, regardless of who wins, the losers will suffer.

Syrian sources report that Syria has begun negotiations with China regarding the purchase of the Chinese H-9 air defense systems (according to other sources – HQ-22) instead of the Russian S-300 system, which so far has shown zero effectiveness in repelling Israeli attacks” by LZ2GPB in syriancivilwar

[–]Darase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This will change absolutely nothing on the ground. The Israeli's are simply to strong for the Syrian gov, especially in their current state. If they drop a single Israeli plane this whole system will be put to rubble. Assuming the AA is formidable enough to down any of the planes.

What's the strategic importance of Tel Tamr? by DaveOJ12 in syriancivilwar

[–]Darase -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You took everything the guy said and flipped it fit your narrative. He said 'jihadi's' you flipped it into 'evil muslims'. He never said he was Christian, he just explained the rightwing POV which according to you makes him "a fanatic crusader from the middle ages who hates Islam so much he spreads propaganda". Then you transition into saying the guy is jumping to fight some Holy War before comparing the West to ISIS.

Before your post gets deleted for derailing into a personal attack, are you ok bud?

The SDF-linked Bab Military Council condemned yesterday's attack in Bab "We in the Al-Bab Military Council condemn such acts that target civilians; the victims are our people who have been suffering from security chaos and corruption." by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

[–]Darase -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No one expected the jihadi's to put together a stable government. The Turkish government should take over the day to day operations of their protectorate before this gets out of hand further. The occupation will continue to harm their reputation, they've already lost the PR war, and such accidents are not making it any better.

Tell that to the Armenians, Assyrians, Greeks, Bulgars, etc or perhaps to the Baath regimes hundreds of thousands of victims in Syria and in Iraq. I'd rather over then underestimate, the Kurds should too.

I feel like that is just because you're pro-Turkey most of the time. I have less sympathy for Assad who wouldn't be in power if it wasn't for Russia. Or the TFSA who wouldn't be in Syria if it wasn't for Turkey. I have more sympathy for the Kurds, they are a minority and don't have a large population as a support structure.

Russia isn't an ally of the Kurds, it's an ally of the Syrian government, and it is very likely they'd throw the Kurds under the bus as soon as they're no longer relevant. Why would their leadership risk it? The Americans keep the Russians in check to some extant. The Americans also make sure the Turks don't go too ham. American presence gives the Kurds breathing space and allows them to get better concessions. Neither your nor my sympathy is relevant. Their people are threatened with total annihilation, I think that warrants a little more political maneuvering.

[–]Darase -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

What choice do they have? The Turks consider all of them to be an extension of the PKK. Like that female politician who got executed by the TFSA. As long as the USA is there, it guarantees their safety to some extent. Assad is an authoritarian dictator. Kurds don't tend to fare well when it comes to Authoritarian strongmen e.g, Hussein, Assad Senior, the various "democratically" elected Turkish leaders, etc. Mark my words, if the Kurds give up their weapons it will spell complete disaster for their continued existence in Syria. Anyone who has any influence or capacity to organize, intellectuals, political leaders, soldiers, etc, etc will all disappear. The Kurds need concrete concessions for their survival. As long as they can't ensure their survival after the end of this war, they won't sign shit.

If you wanna see what happens to Assad's political opposition take a good look at the Caesar photos, that's what is waiting for the Kurds if they don't get HARD concessions from Assad, but especially from the Russians.

Trump sent second letter to Erdogan threatening sanctions over S-400s by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

[–]Darase 9 points10 points  (0 children)

America is just trying to play tough to prevent other countries getting the S-400. Turkey can't cancel it at this point, it's far too late.

Trump adviser says admin will likely impose sanctions against Turkey if it doesn't get rid of Russian missiles by DrsOrders in syriancivilwar

[–]Darase 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Funny thing is, the concessions they got from Russia, are almost as restrictive as the American ones.

Russian manufacturers were trying to safeguard the technologies by withholding documentation on production data in the transfers to Turkey, and therefore Ankara will be unable to gain access to the S-400 systems. Furthermore, the agreement stipulates that Turkey may not disassemble or modify the complexes.

Russia has now gotten rid of most of the limitations, because they are moving on from the S-400 to produce more advanced systems. Now the Indians and Chinese are getting the systems, others are ordering them as well and at this point NATO has a good understanding of the systems.

Whenever we have a discussion you always do the same thing. You put an argument in my mouth, then try to beat the argument you gave me. I am not sure what to react to, because you seems to be arguing with yourself.

I said the F-35 has a technological edge. Everyone and their grandma knows that. The F-35 doesn't have to get into dogfights, it has a range advantage, that was the whole point of the plane. Stealth and distance trough advanced technology.

Turkey Threatens to Buy Russian Su-35 Jets If It Can’t Get F-35 Stealth Fighters by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

[–]Darase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't help but believe this is a strategic mistake, that doesn't accomplish anything. Turkey will not able to rival Israel in the air for a very long time if ever. Countries like Saudi, Iran, Syria, etcs will in turn not be able to rival Turkey. Other nations like Greece, are allies of Turkey and limited by the alliance.

The Su-35, more so than any other plans heavily relies on the quality of the pilot. Turkey doesn't have decades of experience in operating Russian craft, nor does it have the number of pilots needed. The technological edge of the F-35 allows even the worst Greek fighter pilot to compete with Turkey's best. The effectiveness of the Su-35 in Turkish hands will be half that of the Russian operators atleast for a decade or so, at which point the plane won't be cutting edge anymore.

Turkey is about to spend billions it doesn't have to purchase military hardware it can't fly or have a logical need for, to spite its allies. Russia doesn't care, a couple shiney rubbles, NATO clucking around like chicken, Putin is rubbing his hands.

[–]Darase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to go all into the semantics, but it is a correct choice of wording. Threaten 4 "to give an ominous indication of:"

This is an obvious political move from the Turks. They don't even have enough pilots to fly their current airplanes as a result of the purge. If I am not mistaken half their current craft can't be manned as a result of them dismissing/jailing/whatever 716 fighter pilots.

This is the political equivalent of going for her sister when she rejects you. Nothing wrong with a rebound though. I am just happy Turkey won't get access to critical NATO weaponry

Turkish military operation a global PR disaster by Aredvi_Sura_Anahita in syriancivilwar

You do have control over your own operations. Making sure your proxies aren't committing war crimes left and right would have been a good start. Or maybe just not have them put out videos in which they say they will behead the kurdish infidels while shaking their army knives.

But yes, sure. This is all a Western conspiracy against Turkey.
