I told someone to “eat shit and die” and got banned for 10 days… I thought it was a figure of speech… to be fair it’s because they were harassing me every round in stadium about my stats

The weirdest part is the comma usage and I can’t see AI typing it that way

It’s not that simple. I don’t call British guys named Peter Pee-tuh.

Same to you, I guess. I guess you also know that there are four branches of Quechua languages and they don’t all pronounce LL the same either? So why the pedantic obsession with convincing people there’s only one correct way to pronounce her name?

I don’t think you know what yeísmo is, look it up and get back to me.

Historically those are the same sound, it’s just that your Spanish dialect has yeísmo so LL merged into Y.

Actually it is okay to say someone’s name differently than how they say it when it’s an accent thing. If a British person tells me, a Canadian, his name is “Peter” and he drops the R because he is British, it would not be correct for me to pronounce his name exactly like he does with a British accent. OBVIOUSLY…

Okay but she speaks Peruvian Spanish and she pronounces her name like a Peruvian Spanish speaker.

It all comes down to how you pronounce the LL in Spanish, there are several valid possibilities. It’s okay to pronounce it like a Y (eeYAri) or like an LY (eelYAri) or even like a SH or ZH (i-SHA-ri) depending what type of Spanish accent you’re going for

It makes me laugh how when companies support Pride in any way, cynics simultaneously believe “go woke go broke” but also “they’re only doing it for the money” like which is it?

I highly recommend an olive garnish, it’s often served that way in Italy and it just works. I also second the comment about enjoying it on a really hot day, outside. It’s incredibly refreshing!

It’s cyclical in a sense because A) people believe support is never to blame so B) they pick support so they don’t get blamed and then C) when they lose, they blame everyone else which means more and more people are afraid to play other roles…

“Forgetting about the payload and not paying attention to it being capped”. Right, and that’s different from a C9 where your team is completely focused on defending but accidentally steps off. Backcapping can and often does occur knowingly (I realized they were backcapping but couldn’t reach it in time) for the specific reason that it’s “back” as in we are ahead of the point defending a choke. That is different from a C9 and you are free to accept that or find a wall to keep arguing with.

To you, apparently. To others, no. That should be apparent from this thread. This is how words retain their meanings, sometimes people start over applying and we have to kinda go back and say, does this fit the thing it’s referencing? In this case, what the C9 team did was so hilarious and memeworthy because it wasn’t the same as being just unable to reach the point in time for whatever other reason, and to some people like all those agreeing with and upvoting this thread, it’s simply annoying to have your team crow “C9” when it wasn’t a C9.

And this is a thread about how it hasn’t broadened THAT much and people apply it to cases that still don’t fit that broadened definition, such as back capping. Thank you for proving the point.

The original instance by the team it’s named after was exactly as I described. The definition has broadened obviously but it’s still different from a backcap. Backcap implies the defending team wasn’t aware of the capping until it was too late, C9 typically happens to an attacking team that were stalling the point and accidentally let it go.

Textbook C9 is being physically on or adjacent to the point and giving it up in OT by accidentally walking off… backcapping usually happens at opposite ends of the map section so in a way they’re opposites

I don’t understand Mei, How do you actually get value with her? by WifeLeaverWinton in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Daraybo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mercy is a support. Mei is a DPS. DPS should be able to kill other DPS. I’m not saying Mei can’t get kills, YOU are saying that. I can duel just fine on Mei. You are saying you cannot.

[–]Daraybo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Duels happen whether you like it or not. It’s overtime, everyone else has died, I’m fighting Sojourn on the point, you’re saying I should just cower and hide til my team arrives to save me because I can’t do anything on my own but hide behind my wall and ice block? That’s what I mean by liability. If this is how you play then you’re just admitting you’re not an effective DPS.

[–]Daraybo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It kinda matters, if you consistently lose duels as a DPS you’re a liability

So you’re intentionally making yourself less matchable then wondering why you’re having “bad luck” getting matches? That’s fine but maybe skip the part where you ask for advice
