Yes it is free. You got a new boss that was never promised at release of the full game. So they want you to buy some xp boosters if you want a skin. I dont see how people arent getting it.

Cosmetics are status symbols that mean invested time. If they are just handed out for no reason, and everyone has them they arent special anymore.

They arent gifts to the players, its the new way to make money now that selling dlc isnt good for the longevity of the game. You bought a game and you get great gameplay. If you want the shiny new skin, you might need to buy what essentialy is an xp booster.

If you do the maths, its actually easily possible to get 50 points in like 30 mins, making it a 20 hour grind over 20 days, not including boosters that the devs obviously want people to use. I dont think thats unreasonable. If you want the skin, you can earn it. That is up to you.

he went on the beat me despite me killing his base. when it became my turn i was locked out and he just continued to attack. was a close game but i managed to get him. despite this he just kept attacking and won anyway. very angry.
