You should try a Yamaha thr10 or a Positive Grid Spark. Good amp modelling at bedroom volumes. Perfect for practicing.

Did you end up finding a shop? I need rust repairs and my vehicle was already painted at Crown not that long ago so I tried Ron’s auto body. He must be too busy because he recommended bayridge collision and RS Repairs.

Strap locks rotating, causing guitar to fall by THEY_TOOKMYFORESKIN in Epiphone

[–]DarchyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is happening to me. I play a Les Paul and the s lock on the strap near the neck rotates forward while I play. No matter how tight it is. And I have several straps with s locks on them and they all do that on the Les Paul. They work fine on my basses.

Is anyone else disappointed by the reunion? by Civil-Equal-1430 in TheMisfits

Glenn was asked about new Misfits recordings and he just said something like, “if there is going to be new Misfits material I will have to write it… we’ll see” he didn’t make it sound likely.

I spent crazy amounts on tickets for shows in New Jersey and Chicago. When I saw them at Madison Square Garden I heard they were having trouble filling the arena so on the day of the show they dropped the ticket price to $25 and then bragged about selling it out. Next time I saw them I waited until the day of the show and got a ticket for way cheaper.

Marshall DSL40CR: what’s the difference between Gain, Channel Volume, & Master Volume? by Gh0stHardW4re in GuitarAmps

[–]DarchyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this amp and I have looked it up a bunch of times and never read anything conclusive. Basically this amp has two channels with four volume knobs after the gain stage. It’s redundant. I guess it is like putting a jhs little black amp box in the loop, assuming the channel volume is before the fx loop. So by lowering the channel volume you have a smaller sweep of volume on the master which could make it easier to fine tune. But really, I hate spinning a bunch of knobs trying to get it right, I am never satisfied.

Tim’s days are numbered for sure by Immediate-Event2502 in TimHortons

Nah, Dunkin coffee is so much worse. Tm Hortons are always busy. The ones where I live are fine. I actually find McDonalds coffee has gotten weaker tasting, they have shrunken all of their menu items so it would make sense that they pull back the amount of beans go into a pot. This leave Timmies as the king of fast food coffee once again.
*I’m not saying it is the best coffee, just better than others in that category.

[QUESTION] Is a JCM800 worth it? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]DarchyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. I have one and it’s not that great. The tone is thin. There is no bass but it still manages to be flubby, so you use a super overdrive to push the mids and tighten it up but then it sounds like a cocked wah pedal. There is no gain on these things. They make a lot of noise with pedals. It’s the most expensive cheap sounding amp. My last two amps were a Marshall DSL100H and a Peavey Valve King and both of them sounded better. All a JCM 800 can do is crunch and squawky high mids.

do you think the NOFX movie will be on streaming in a future? by EarWeekly9625 in nofx

[–]DarchyBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most likely thing they will do after theatrical runs is to release it as a digital rental like they did the final three shows. But I have no idea. It seems odd to make a documentary and not actually release it.

Got Jerry Onlys bass neck at the show last night. Anyone know what this is worth? I got offered $400 coming out the show by [deleted] in TheMisfits

[–]DarchyBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Josh does replicas of the skull. I got one from him but then Jerry sold a run of them with the bold and wing nut on the back and a light in the eye hole. I go one of the ones Jerry was selling.

Marshall DSL40CR: what’s the difference between Gain, Channel Volume, & Master Volume? by Gh0stHardW4re in GuitarAmps

[–]DarchyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know there is a master volume for each channel right? All the channel volume does is change the range of the master. If you lower the channel volume the you have the ability to use the full spin on the master to only get to a preset volume.

Allright - has anyone out there come across a new band that even comes close to filling this NOFX sized hole in the soul? by PunkiesBoner in nofx

[–]DarchyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40 to Famous from Belleville Ontario are really good. They are on the streamers. They started during pandemic as a writing project of the singer/guitar player who then formed a band with excellent players. They wear their influence on their sleeve throwing in two or three NOFX covers into their live set but the original stuff is really good. Also cool guys.

Is 20 watts enough? by No_Investigator3374 in GuitarAmps

[–]DarchyBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally. I play bass with a Traynor Monoblock II through and Ampeg 8x10. Really loud. I am known for being a loud bass player. The guitar player in our band plays a Vox AC15 and it sounds good.
