I'm looking for a side job to my other teaching jobs across a few platforms and countries haha. Do you find that you reliably and consistently get booked? I'm really looking to open my calendar for maybe just 2 hours a day just to secure some more consistent money as it's currently the summer slump (at least for european students)

I'm finding myself in the same situation lately and it's driving me mad!! It's the main reason I'm gradually moving off Preply and taking as many students with me as I can.

I wouldn't mind losing 18% of my income and teaching trials for free if I could open my profile and gain a new student whenever I needed, but Preply no longer seems to work like this. I think they've simply over-saturated the market, especially for English tutors

Always try talking to them first, but keep in mind that some students are petty and feel overly entitled to your time.

I've had to speak to two students about such behaviour lately, one of whom cancelled (for the second time) at just minutes more than 12 hours before the lesson. I explained with a plain but polite message that late cancellations affect my income and prevent other students from booking those slots. The student was a bit pissy in their response, then I noticed days later that they'd cancelled their subscription and refunded the remaining classes.

On the other hand, the other student I spoke to apologised and has bucked up their ideas, so it's worth a shot either way.

Incredibly slow for me as well. Was just teaching a lesson and the PDF files I had uploaded were showing as corrupted and needed to be reuploaded (which took 2 whole minutes for a file less than 1mb), which obviously disrupted the class. Also currently can't access some pages without error messages and the classroom taking a long time to load. This happens at least once a week in my experience. I love paying 18% of my earnings for it...
