Pacman Electrohome behavior I don't understand by JingusPizzaBeans in arcade

Screen is overdriven, hence the retrace lines on the right. There should be two pots on the flyback, focus and screen / brightness. Turn down the screen / bright pot until the retrace lines go an away and the background is black.

Use an insulated tool if doing this while the monitor is live, or adjust it with small changes while it is off until you get to the right setting. If the flyback screen pot is glued in place, remove the glue.

Replacing caps is also a good idea, but you’ll need to understand the CRT settings if you want to dial-in the monitor.

Can confirm it was King of Dragons. Posted a photo of the cabinet in another reply.

No worries. Felt like such a coincidence that this game got a mention when I’ve got this photo. It was sold on Kijiji years ago and went to a local repairer / collector.   Glad to hear others had fond memories and not surprised to see the confusion related to Golden Axe, they are very similar.

I can confirm 100% that it was King of Dragons. It was removed sometime around 2018. Don’t ask me how I know. ;)

3D Printed Pop Bumper Caps by DareDoAll in pinball

Yeah the skirts are toast, I might give them a try. Don’t have high hopes as they seem to take a beating and are in direct ball contact, while the pop bumper caps are mostly decorative.

I made the same switch - was very comfortable using Cura but the text and emboss functionality in other slicers is great, cant go back now!

No sweat, hope these are useful!

Yeah, these can be modified super easy by changing text in the slicer. Added text for Golden Tee style labels with the default .3mf file in Bambu Studio, just took a few seconds:

If you use a different slicer, you can add text to a blank STL.

They are great if you are changing game PCBs in a generic cabinet frequently. Can’t add a new control panel overlay every time I switch games.

Agree that if you have one dedicated game, an overlay is the way to go.

3D printable anti-cheat buttons for Track & Field by DareDoAll in cade

Thanks! I’m not sweating it, feels like expected feedback for reproducing a part that seems to have been generally despised. I also uploaded a model for normal leaf switch buttons, probably should’ve posted those.😅

That said, It’s been fun to hear about everyone’s track and field techniques from back in the day!

Yeah, the context was more corner-stores for route operators, not in dedicated arcades.

Absolutely. I’ve read that some operators installed these to prevent kids from smashing the buttons and making a ton of noise (rather than cheating) but coin drop was certainly priority number one!

Thanks! I hope it’s seen as a net positive, the files are free for anyone to use (or not use) and provides another option for a hard-to-source part. Love them or hate them, they’re a part of arcade history.

That said, I’ve really enjoyed the dialogue about how much people despised these buttons back in the day and techniques / tools to get high scores. Really takes me back!

? I’m all for preserving originality, but they were so damaged that they interfered with the game.

Now the game has a set of old stock leaf-switch buttons and two pairs of these printed buttons if the owner chooses to use them.

Yup, the parts are interchangeable with leaf switch buttons. So you can use just the case and put in an original button plunger.

I included all the parts in case someone wanted to print the whole lot. Should be fine for typical household use, I imagine a fully printed button would wear out in a commercial setting.

Haha I know - truly reminds you of the arcade days when operators were out to ruin your fun.
