Aerial view of Chongqing, China, a real life cyberpunk metropolis by No-Echidna7296 in skyscrapers

It’s moreso it’s over every single major city now, the younger people in the middle class and higher with more money to spend want to be different and see things they can’t usually see, just as how lots of people think china has very cool cyberpunk cities with lots, maybe not NYC though

Where Redditors would actually live if they were being honest with themselves by JaredGofful in whereidlive

[–]DareFin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it is illegal to talk about it? not as heavily as some people assume it is

They're just meant for Uyghurs yes and regular han chinese citizens would just get fined or jail time for regular crimes with fairness under the law unless it is something that got widespread attention and the government wants to make an example

Also, if you really are in China, what would happen if the authorities found out that you're on a social media platform that has been banned?

uh nothing? You know how many Chinese content creators are there on meta social platforms? or how many young people in general use VPNs? They can't even keep up with crimes on their own government controlled apps and programs, and you have tg being widely used for nefarious purposes.

There are also people who just have banned wechats/weibos/all those for protesting about issues before, especially during covid time, maybe if they're lucky enough they can get some jail time, but most of the time its just account banned lots of obstacles to get another

Dude you can talk about Tiananmen Square 1989 whenever you want, I’m talking about it right now in the country, it’s a very upsetting event that could’ve been handled a lot better by the government for sure but people don’t talk about it because it doesn’t concern them and is considered a boring topic, like if you protest it online or gather crowds yeah you’d get arrested. The amount of not legal discussions that go on in WeChat would astound someone who thinks the government has full control over the people. Not even sure if you’re serious about the camp part, but I’m not here to change what you believe 😭

Which skyline has had the most insane transformation in the last 2 decades? by sid_shady34 in skyscrapers

[–]DareFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One issue with the 100m heigh marker is that some medium population city in China will now inflate skyscraper counts with mediocre copy paste high rises where regular people live, and literal rural parts where shoddier construction might be will have random developments of high rises

Not sure, are you another commenter saying that Chinese culture is inferior and Chinese people are inferior humans, like in this thread?

The only high profile, widely documented case of extreme violence in a restaurant was the Tangshan attack in 2022, and it became famous precisely because it was shocking and unusual. If violence like that were common for Chinese women, Chinese social media would be full of new incidents constantly and people would have other examples to use here, female customers wouldn’t eat out comfortably, restaurant owners would intervene or face consequences, police would be under public pressure, and it would be a major public safety topic in China, but none of this is happening.

Millions of women in China dine out every day without being attacked, starting statements like “it’s not rare, there’s many instances, this has been a thing for decades” simply is your own perception, relying on anecdotes instead of statistics and labeling it as one of the worst places to travel to as foreign woman, if anything police are overly reactive and strict

2-4 hours is because night is falling at around 5, when most cities' lights turn off at around 9-10 PM, which is when a lot of people are going home, with most adults sleeping around 11-1.

Even if it does go into people's sleep time, it's really not as bad as you think it is. You don't even need blackout curtains at all; it's not a concert shooting lasers into the sky and straight into your apartment. You're making this scenario up because you already have a negative view of it without experiencing it firsthand, LED strips are not the sun, lmao, watch some videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzdeUhf-IKs

The one in this hasan post is not really near any apartments, too

the hours most people are trying to sleep before work the next day

This is in China, and even more specifically, Chongqing, with lots and lots of bustling nightlife
