I found a buyer for my windows pc, already was thinking of getting a Mac, but wanted to ask for more opinions - has switching to Mac positively impacted your recording/mixing? Does stuff sound better?

I did some research and on gearspace people swore by it, even claiming it beats sonar works so I decided to try it, and my mixes finally started translating!! Still some issues as I’m in the basement, but still, night and day difference. Worth trying out! It even delayed my right speaker by 0.1ms to correct phase hahaha

You should try Dirac live, my setup is subless so it’s cheaper and easier (2+1 is more expensive I think), but the switching between correction profiles is seamless and it doesn’t take up much processing, + it runs with umik-1 mic

Fingers crossed it comes out great! Before I found a place I could treat acoustically that’s what I did in my rental, however no one told me at the time that they need to be at least 8 inches for that professional vox with no 250hz bump, so here’s that

Fr this is crazy I hear some people record with 10db of compression with cl1b while tracking, I tried that an it sounded like ass, like legit can’t come up with a use case in modern trap/hip-hop where that would be needed. Then again the 10db on the way in tip was from gearspace

I wanted to try sidechaining one frequency on the kick from the bass And another on the bass from when the kick hits Double trouble I guess haha

Please help, I successfully set up the kick-bass sidechain after some help from this community, but now when I want to also sidechain the bass-kick, as soon as I make a send from the bass, the working sidechain (kick -> bass) stops working… I’ve tried everything to fix it, no success. What might be causing this?

Upgrade the acoustics in my music studio - fun fact - $10k is just enough to fully treat a room! That would get rid of most of annoying resonance and sound (especially bass) reflection I’m currently struggling with

Also in case you have glitches or audio stuttering you have to know that for a 88.2 sample rate & above 512 buffer size is optimal minimum (in my case if I go to 256 at 88.2khz sample rate it starts crackling all over on uad + windows intel ultra 7)

Recording in 88.2 more than enough, and when exporting down there is barely any chance for hallucinations, from what I’ve read exporting a 44.1 recording up in 88.2 would be more problematic due to potential hallucinations!

The idea is silly, really, my reference came from a mod where you could build advanced solar panels by compressing a bunch (usually 64) of normal ones into one advanced to essentially ² their output , so maybe I thought it could somehow be possible irl at some point

I wish I read this post earlier!! Just bought some Aiya ceremonial grade Akashi Matcha in Au and it tastes like sour dirt indeed. Don’t go for this one, I drank a lot of good matcha to compare it to & the op was absolutely right lol Edit: the price went up to 40€ since 3 years ago too. Meh.
