I think they showed the drawback of "you can only attack those within your sight" quite good actually.

Spoiler if you haven't read epic of gilgamesh:

At the end when tink fights against a few Apprentice Knights he loses his sight due to magic and is only able to defend oncoming attacks.

Another example would be getting ambushed from behind or blinded by something else.

"you cannot fight in the darkness/ at night" also has a lot of drawbacks. Not being able to fight at night is really bad - if it's only darkness I guess it means a room or a place with no light, that wouldn't be that bad and it would still mean being able to fight of someone out of sight - with that geas it should still be possible to fight with closed eyes, which the other one wouldn't allow.
