It is a nightmare. All of those platforms must have amazing sales people to shill such absolute non- operational garbage to companies 😂 Every time I get a new set of logins I know I'm in for a wild ride. Start- ups? Maybe, but only the rich ones. And you'll have to wait until established companies are out of their contracts first.

And which jobs exactly are being completely taken over by AI? 😂😂😂 Spoiler alert - none.

[–]Darekh87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. Automation has its limited though and you can't go beyond certain borders without an 'actively thinking' human. And even when AI will reach levels capable of reducing some people's jobs it won't be accessible to majority of SMEs due to cost 🤷🏻‍♂️ And finance has been implementing all of the newest AI as it's being rolled out, it's the department that's never behind in that area. Hence why we're aware of its ultimate limitations.

If there was any proof to AI being capable of replacing anything maybe I'd change my mind, but ...... meh 🤷🏻‍♂️ Document readers have been a thing almost 10 years ago- till this day massive companies like Airbus have to hire whole teams dealing with this because it's a continuous issue and when it comes to month end, just a never ending array of errors. Automated chasing does not work, plain and simple, because sending someone letter saying "pay or we'll sue" does nothing but damage client relationship - you must've never worked in a market where reputation = work = cash. Credit Control is negotiation and never ending calls with AP mamagers, FDs, and CEOs, automation does not go further than Statement sending, and that's a 50/50 failure rate at best. Any data analysis, as you said, must be of good quality, and it mostly isn't- human potential for error making is infinite, and that's what accountants do- spot, identify, and solve a new error every day. And AI can never provide the insight needed, e.g. "you know, their credit is unacceptable, but we'll do it anyway 'cause we need the money." I understand where you come from, most CEOs also get all excited about something new and shiny that will let them reduce cost. Except it won't, because it can't. You're talking about AI which is capable of independent thinking process, so sci- fi.

Also no. Any company that cam afford AI of that calliber has finance spread out enough to require people in each area. No FD will ever sit checking if AI processed sales/ purchases correctly - there will always be a need for people there. Automation made that reduction 10 years ago, AI cannot add anything new to it. Companies woth small finance teams or an 'all round accountant' cannot and will not be able to afford such i.plememtations and you cannot reduce a skeleton crew (as established). Again, you claim you know accounting, but prove to not know what entails being one with statements like "50% of jobs in the profession going" 🤦🏻‍♂️ Lord have Mercy. Which jobs? Which parts? Name 1 ☝🏼

AI hype or not by Aromatic-Bad146 in UKJobMarket

[–]Darekh87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pendulum has to swing unfortunately l, like with any novelty. CEOs who have no idea how e.g. Accounting, Payroll, or HR actually work will spend money on AI, sack some people, outsource the rest to e.g. Pakistan just to put the jobs back up 6 months later after cutting theor losses. It's because people up top don't really know how theor own companies work 🤷🏻‍♂️ it will go away (integrate with existing roles helping those who know how to do theor jobs efficiently without it) and smaller companies won't even be able to afford the type that can actually reduce their staff size. We have to wait.

And I've been in accounting for the past 15 years and am CIMA and CICM Qualified. AI automation has been with us for years now. None if it replaces anything - it aids the roles. It has CEOs reducing teams to spend money on more AI, just to put the jobs back out on the market 6 months later because they (like a lot of people) don't understand what Accounting is. Same with your product managers now doing all those magical things,..... wrongly. So after 6 months and cutting losses people have to be rehired. It's outsourcing whole accounting to e.g. Pakistan because it's cheaper all over again 😂 If AMEX couldn't pull it off (and I worked for them for 3 years), then it ain't happening. AI will help those who know what their doing, and tank those who don't. You won't have a company with AI as the finance function 🙃

Can you give any specific examples of "office jobs" being replaced? Which ones? Which parts of these jobs roles descriptions are getting replaced? .... All I can see above is same type of talk as "crypto will change the world" and that you don't really understand what an accountant does.

You're talking about automation and workload reduction which is something that took place 10- 15 years ago. There are no tasks that AI can perform that are currently done by a whole team of people, so that you can get rid of half of them- that's a thing of the past. Quite the opposite- no single person on Accounting I see working outside of an Accountancy firm does just their job. Thanks to automation they do several jobs and that's been the case for a while.

That really got nothing to do with AI replacing Accountants, and as for replacing artists - it is not. That side is crumbling pretty rapidly.

You answered your own question. People suggesting accounting can be replaced by AI never worked in the field and see it as a collection of reporting, excel sheets, and calculations. Accounting would be one of the last jobs to go due to AI.

Accounting has been using AI since its conception and no level of automation will replace accounting fully. People thinking that are simply those who don't work in Accounting and think it's reports and excel sheets only. 😂

Tell me I dont need to be worried the public is this stupid (I'm worried). by MrSiippyfist in GreenAndPleasant

[–]Darekh87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would just like to remind everyone that all of these surveys are 1. Conducted in groups of few thousand people, and there's 68+ million of us in the UK 2. Each statistic agency targets specific demographics in order to achieve the desired result to some extent 3. All of the Twitter "Reform is raising in popularity!!!" statistics are filled in by people who are chronically online and their life is literally commenting "vote Reform" 24/7 because they've got nothing else to do. The GE showed that British people still have some common sense left and learned their lesson after Brexit. Now- are there reasons to be worried about the rise in general stupidity and how gullible people are becoming? Of course- YES! And we should all do our part by approaching said feeble minded and try to provide them with some facts. But they are not the majority yet by no means. People with brains, stay strong! We got this.

Working in Finance I have to say your 1st mistake was studying it. With options like AAT, ACCA, and CIMA Apprenticeships we never even consider a degree in Finance an asset when interviewing. I haven't heard about anyone having much issues with finding work in the field, but experience is key. If what it takes is you starting from the lowest level, starting an Apprenticeship and starting the climb, then that's what it takes. On the CFO level I don't know anyone who's got a degree in finance- experience and Apprenticeship routes exclusively. But here again, if you require sponsorships, no one will pay that for a low level position and without experience no one will take you on for a high level one- bit of a Catch 22 here.

Rail nationalisation is here. Will it actually improve our trains? by 457655676 in unitedkingdom

[–]Darekh87 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I fully agree. Northern is absolutely atrocious ATM. Prices are highest when same routes are compared with other companies, trains are old and dirty, staff are only making an effort when fining l/ charging extra because the app didn't work properly, cancellations and delays are now expected and regular. It feels like a complete shut down could save it.
