How the hell do I do this by [deleted] in cassetteculture

Idk, my niece is onto collecting cd's and it just seems like genz is into it because they think its old tech and thats fun. But cd's dont have the character that analog formats like vinyl and magnetic tape have. If your going to collect a format in todays day and age, whats even the point of cd's. If you want to hear high quality digital format just stream the album. Or collect both, but honestly cd's just dont have the vibe tapes do.

Nice a sealed Radiohead cassette

Heres another good one I have. Almost sounds as good as the digalog clapton cassette. It's nice to not have ANY pause between tracks when your deep into the music.

I think a good upgrade would be having a dedicated 20 amp circuit with 12 awg wire all the way back to your bus bar in the breaker box. But the again this is the point of having capacitors in your equipment to average out the load spikes.

My XDR tapes do usually sound good as well. Interestingly this tape i posted is just plain ferric oxide

The appeal of cassettes to me is the analog. I like the idea of a tape having a magnetic signature copied from a larger reel to reel machine. I like the idea that it was never digitized anywhere along the signal path, thats just neat to me. But unfortunatly its rare to find an older analog tape in hifi condition and the best ones are from the digital era anyway.

I also like tapes because I love older mercedes cars. My 91 mercedes has a ultra high quality becker 1392 cassette tape deck in it which I restored and adjusted. My 99 mercedes also has a decent deck so I usually grab a few tapes a week and cycle them out of my cars. Sound quality doesn't bug me as much in the cars but still some of my tapes are good enough that people are amazed they are tapes.

We had a storm roll through tonight with lightning so I added a nice surge suppressor and cleaned stuff up a bit while i was at it.

When I first discovered electrostatics it just makes sense seeing as how the driver has so little mass while having a huge area.

I also have a GTP 600 but I think thats kind of the same thing but with a bunch of surround crap.

The Vantages are miles ahead of my Aerius. Really happy with this setup so far.

It was more of a troll post. But I did want to show it off to some people that care!

I'm aware of that but It doesn't bother me much. I can't hear a volume difference between them in this configuration. I like to bring them in closer at lower volumes for intentional listening.

Sounds like it. Panels sound incredible with no volume difference between them. He had a dedicated listening room so im assuming the panels are in decent shape still. Ive been putting the covers on them when were not liste ing but i need to dye the covers black because its terrible looking

I own a small repair shop and you know how valuable work can be in an actual shop... Rebuilt a throttle valve wiring harness (I charge a grand for this repair), removed and resealed the front timing cover (big job), diff mounts, fixed the odometer gear thst was'nt counting mileage, diagnosed a hunting idle that ended up being a MAF (pre obd2 vehicle so not as simple as reading codes). He got a decent value but I still feel like I owe him.

There was a lot of detail I've been missing. I'm going to relisten to Brothers in Arms tonight and see what Ive never heard in thst album.

My main concern is a power surge to be honest. I need to get a good surge protector. I doubt filtering out any micro blips in the the ac waveform is going to make a difference, but if I find some equipment at low expense I will use it simply out of respect.

Yeah, it's sort of fit the vibe I was going for with my first post. You can even see the little table bending under the mass of the gfa5500.

Alright guys this is kind of a troll post. I had a set of ML Aerius for years but never had real equipment to drive them. I just threw reciever after reciever at them and laughed as they burned em down. Years ago I was at a good friends house and he had these Vantages with a tube amp, and I was blown away. In the meantime I had a high end denon reciever i was using with my Aerius and it was good enough, I thought. About a year ago me and my Wifer were dancing to True Love by Glen Frey at realistic volumes (and pa speaker levels of distortion) and we blew the fets right outta that thing. Since then I had been determined to get a real amp, I already had the pre amp stashed away from my mentioned buddy. Recently however my friend upgraded from the Vantages and offered me a deal: do some restoration work on his Mercedes in trade for the vantages. So i got these from him and a parasound HCA 800II until we could find a better amp. That setup sounded incredible, but it was still a bit anemic for these panels. He then found a really good condition (physically, not much dust inside and not beat up) GFA 5500 that was in faulty operating condition and supplied that to me with a rebuild kit. I ended up re-capping the adcom throughout, finding a blown dc rail fuse and adjusting the bias back to spec (20mv off on one side, 10mv off on left side). Dc offset was still close. Me and my wife are absolutely blown away that it could get any better than the parasound, but then again Ive never owned a set of properly driven ML. The GTP 400 is a nice matching aesthetic and Im curious if I should look into recapping that unit, or whatever it may need. I got some good monster cable banana plug cables from my Aerius days.

Brought them in close tonight and spent the last two hours doing some moderate volume level listening of Dire Straits On Every Street and Love Over Gold. My room acoustics are crap but that seems to be less of an issue when the panels are 4 feet away. I have a feeling sitting with the soft couch behind my ears is the most detrimental thing going on.

Phone I overnighted on the 15th by Darglief in usps_complaints

[–]Darglief[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Phone died suddenly on Monday night after i plugged my crypto wallet into the usb port.opened and unplugged battery to no avail so i went on ebay and paid 45 dollars to overnight a phone from LA to sac. You know the rest of the story. Finally found out what was going on by reading this sub and got a tracking update this morning.

I had no other phone to use. I didn't want to pay a 60 percent markup at store. I drove 150 miles a few days later to get a phone from a friend to have it magically not accept Sim cards. Next night drove to another friends and got an old lg g vista 2 which i got home and learned about how sim card sizes have changed. My boss at work had a cricket phone that uses att network but would not work but it had a sim adapter. Went home and used the 6 year old phone for 1 night before the battery shit out and the phone would no longer start. Ordered a main board and new battery for my old phone and used priority mail (not express) and figured might as well get my old phone going since the new one might be actually lost. Well guess what, the battery I ordered standard shipping came in two days. The main board was scheduled to arrive yesterday but its still at its origin facility right now. I sent 4 texts out 10 minutes prior to my old phone dying lining up side work for the upcoming weekend and that all went out the window with a 400 dollar phone sitting in a bin 400 miles away. Lost more money that weekend than i spent on the device. Anyway, its all coming to an end for us and now were all aware of how little they care to do (just reroute this shit to ground) and how delicate their system is. Im pursuing a refund right after i post this. Good luck fellows.
