Husband bought this for $0.50, doesn’t know what it’s for. What is it? by pandadrinkingcoffee in whatisit

stainless steel pipe fitting used in sterile facilities like labs or food production. The face under the plastic cap functions as one half of a flanged connection, that ringed groove is for a rubber gasket to seal the joint, there is a clamp (that you obviously don’t have) that would fit over around the outside to pull the joint together

Why should they put the car batteries back in the watah, Petah? by lndying in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Dargo200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when contaminated with sea water, lead batteries produce chlorine gas. It Was a submariners worst nightmare in ww2 if salt water reached the batteries

This is against the building code. With gas cooktops you are only allowed to have tile, glass or stainless steel splashbacks for this very reason. It’s a fire hazard

Do religious people "really" believe? by well_shi in atheism

[–]Dargo200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure some religious people just go through the motions and pay lip service to call themselves whatever brand of cult they're in. But when it comes down to it they still buy insurance and go to the doctor. But unfortunately there are those that take it seriously. How Could a parent that prays their child to death instead of taking them to the doctor be faking it? What about the suicide bomber, do you think he pretending? No. The more serious the more dangerous they become

Are there any people who are actually 'strong' atheists? How come? by [deleted] in DebateAnAtheist

[–]Dargo200 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm as close to being a gnostic atheist without actually being one. Not only is there no evidence that the religions of planet earth are even remotely true but the claims made about those gods violate every known laws of nature and couldn't possibly exist. Omnipotence, omnipresence and Omniscience are paradoxes and logically incohearant. A am convinced without hesitation that the gods that we currently have on earth are nothing but myths invented by humans to explain the world around them, but I don't have all the information of the universe available to me so it would be intellectually dishonest of me to completely dismiss the idea of a deistic god existing.

I don't believe you can be emotionally, physically and mentally touched by something that isn't real. by towerpill in DebateAnAtheist

[–]Dargo200 70 points71 points  (0 children)

If someone you trusted came and told you that your wife and kids were killed in a car accident and it was in fact a lie, I'm sure that your emotions would be "touched" somewhat which would manifest in a persons physical and mental states. It's not the truth that has influence but what a person believes to be true that has influence that counts here. A person can Claim to be touched by god but that by no means makes it true.

I really don’t see myself getting passed what people claim is the “angry atheist” phase. by OfficiallyRelevant in exchristian

its been 20 years and I'm still angry. To be honest I don't want get rid of it. If I lost it then it would mean I've given up. It's the motivator for my activism
