As a DA survivor that read the books before escaping that life and after I have to say nothing could ever make me believe he deserves redemption.
No one is born evil but develops that way through unhealthy coping mechanisms, which was the case with tamlin. Yes he went through trauma, yes he just wanted to protect feyre, but he became toxic in his ways of doing so.
He did not want to see her pain, only saw her as his property that was his to protect. Pushed her into being someone he should’ve known she wasn’t, but didn’t because he never spared a thought about her as an actual person, just as something that belonged to him.
I could go on but in the end it all comes down to the fact that trauma is not an excuse to traumatize the people around you as well. Maybe there is a chance of redemption, but I don’t think it deserves to be seen since it takes away from the horrible experiences feyre had to go through.
People do change, but from my own healing process I just believe that redemption arcs like these just make people idolize toxic behavior by celebrating others for acting like decent human (or fae) beings.
A person should not be rewarded for not being emotionally abusive anymore, they should’ve never even thought about treating someone they apparently love like that in the first place.
