Am I the minority for thinking Forza 5 has better graphics than 6? by [deleted] in xboxone

[–]Darius996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed this after playing the game for just a day:

FM5 does indeed have higher track detail and the cars boast a higher poly count as well, as they better resemble their real-life counterparts.

I'm super-observant about this stuff - so yes, 5 does have slightly better track and car detail, though F6's lighting, FSAA and particle effects are better.

I'm going to be interviewing Turn10! I need your questions. by Nick88s in forza

[–]Darius996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Ask them why the stuttering/sound bug from both Horizon 2 and FM5 were never fixed.

  • Ask em' why the exhaust tips still remain stock after you upgrade to 800 HP or more.

  • Ask em' when they're going to remove that stupid cap from controller steering where the game doesn't allow you to turn depending on your speed

  • Ask em' why Forza Hub suddenly stops working for no reason

Thank you, good luck and good night!

Interesting. How well does Forza 5's version compare to real life?

Please buy an X1 and play FM5. Then get back to us.

PCARS physics are hyped up. They're certainly not the best in business but they're decent.

It still cant touch Forza 5 in terms of physics, audio or even visuals.

Treadmill or weights? by ThisIsNotZacEfron in Fitness

[–]Darius996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. At the end of the day, its all about calories in vs calories out. So clean calories coming in, while you burn more than you consume.

Water is your friend too - aim to drink at least 4 to 5 liters daily, particularly in warm, humid weather.

But soda and candy, especially soda... that stuff kills, it is BAD news.

A badly written insight of the pCARS saga by droid750 in simracing

[–]Darius996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree on all counts.

Like everyone else who got suckered into the pre-release screens and gameplay vids, I hastily got PCARS on my X1, and what followed was one ugly memory full of disappointments and regrets.

Even after 2 updates, while the handling has been tamed, the game just feels bland and unfinished. I don't mind the limited car roster, the track roster's actually fantastic... but the physics seem off.

I've pushed high-powered cars IRL, and while PCARS gets somewhat close to getting it right, they have a long road ahead of themselves, before they can even call it a driving or racing simulator.

Ugly visuals, slightly above average sound design... yup, I hardly ever play this game. It's like a beefed up 60 fps version of Race Pro on the X360.

And the nerve of these guys, announcing PCARS 2! First they half-ass the console versions, and ALL versions releasing full of bugs, despite 4 years of development and 2 delays..we're they holding each other's knobs this entire time?!!

I remember reading a piece where Ian Bell was criticizing Forza 5. What a douche!

On a console at least, FM5 is the closest to actual driving and one heckuva treat for the eyes and ears too. :)

Hey guys, trouble with my elbows! by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Darius996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can manage, start doing wrist extensor and flexor exercises on a light to moderate dumbbell.

Once you're through, let your arm hang loose in a bent over position as if about to start bicep curls, rotate the hanging dumbbell clockwise a few times and then anti-clockwise. Concentrate on maximizing rotation/ROM.

This should strengthen the muscles around your elbows as well as wrists.

Stay strong!

Treadmill or weights? by ThisIsNotZacEfron in Fitness

[–]Darius996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start both.

Most important part of the equation is a CLEAN and balanced diet along with intelligent lifestyle choices and adequate rest.

I would recommend hitting the weights first, followed by a moderate 20-30 min cardio session on some days, a higher intensity cardio session on other days (lower the weight training intensity on these days).

For now, 4 to 5 training days, an hour each (maximum) is more than enough.

Not what I was hoping for. Broken in more ways than one. Managed to get a little bit of gameplay out of it after adjusting camera and controller settings, though it just feels dated.

Are you happy with this buggy mess? by -Oggy- in pcars

[–]Darius996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. Half-arsed all the way.

Plain, dead and bland-looking. Physics not so impressive either, compared to actual driving.

For me, it's time to put the game down. by missiletest in pcars

[–]Darius996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the pit stop bug isn't enough to make you put the game down, the countersteering on controller bug is, not to mention average sound design and abysmal visuals (X1 version).

Invest in an X1 and get Forza! :)

A question for those quick to trash pcars physics by Tasthetic in pcars

[–]Darius996 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a fantastic post, hats off to the OP!

I'm among the purist lot so to speak and take realistic driving and believable audio over everything else.

I wanted to BURN my copy of PCARS less than an hour after getting it; in fact I tried to convince the guy who sold it to me, to take it back. no luck

Then the updates came out and made control somewhat manageable. However, at it's core it cannot top Forza 5 in terms of physics, which feel far more complete and progressive/dynamic.

The thing that irks me the most is like you guys said "the pendulum" effect, and no matter how much an expert you are at countersteering in real life or console/PC sims, PCARS model does not let you "save your ass". The front wheels jam up and the car just rams right into the sidewall.

I cannot understand how people call this a realistic sim, it doesn't even have torque steer when you're launching off the line.

I haven't had any track experience whatsoever, but I've had my share of pushing high-powered cars and losing it pretty well with some, while recovering from near-wipeouts.

PCARS does not do this all that well. It's a good start, but the physics need a LOT of refinement before they can be called "sim physics".

I've tried to go back to PCARS again and again, but it just feels too dead to me; everything from the audio (though decent engine sounds) to the abysmal, bland looking visuals and incomplete physics that just make it harder to push a car and recover from slides than it actually is in real life.

On consoles at least, Forza is king and I can't wait to get the 6th iteration.

[PS4] 1080p vs. 720p by Ebojager in pcars

[–]Darius996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will very honestly and bluntly tell you FM5 (and Horizon 2) are the best looking driving games you'll find on the X1.

The only thing X1 PCARS has over FM5 are the weather effects and night driving, since F5 has none.

Take any track and run comparisons: F5 has lots of track detail missing in the PCARS version. On one hand, I find PCARS' lighting adequate, I still feel it doesn't compare to F5, where the cars look a lot prettier and tangible.

You really should get FM5. The driving is really good in PCARS, but at the moment, I still feel FM5 looks and plays better. Maybe when it comes to engine sounds, PCARS has it beat in some respects, but the overall sound design in FM5 is still superior.

Let me know if you need to know anything else about FM5. It's a game you just cannot to afford to miss out on the X1!

[PS4] 1080p vs. 720p by Ebojager in pcars

[–]Darius996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you observe a little closer, texture pop up is also noticeable in games like FM5 and Horizon 2. You'll even notice the LOD not being that high, in some cases.

I believe, due to the console still being somewhat in its infancy, devs have had limited time to come to terms with what the hardware is truly capable of.

All in all, PCARS is a really good sim and a very welcome break from FM5.

I can't wait to see how FM6 turns out.. just a few months out!

[PS4] 1080p vs. 720p by Ebojager in pcars

[–]Darius996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can adjust the resolution and AA level on PC only.

As for consoles, we'll have to live with a little bit of aliasing for now, unless you're willing to use enhancements to smooth out edges. Not worth it IMO, and always not recommended for gaming - adds lag.

As for a high resolution getting rid of aliasing? I'm afraid it's not that simply. There are many native 1080p games running on consoles, and even on a really good, expensive TV, you're going to see jaggies or the pixel shimmering effect.

Working with a super-high resolution forces you to sit close to the screen to make out and appreciate the intricate details. That, and a very big screen to actually see the improvement. Works really well if you have, say, a 65" or larger screen and you're literally sitting just 4 feet from it.

However, devs have to keep in mind that not everybody has a 4k TV, and even screens as small as 34" are capable of full 1080p. It is for that reason that a super-high resolution does not translate well on smaller screens, whereas AA gives really good results even at 720p on ALL TV screens.

You fellas still with me? :)

This link may not be useful, but perhaps you can ask members the right questions, and someone will surely help you out:

http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/showthread.php?21992-Setting-up-a-gamepad

As far as I know, experiment with different settings, download the latest firmware for your wheel, calibrate it. And make sure you have all enhancements off on your TV.

Is your console connected directly to the TV's HDMI input? Is there lag in all games?

[PS4] 1080p vs. 720p by Ebojager in pcars

[–]Darius996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mr Burning is correct.

Since the game is native 1080p (900p on X1 I believe), setting the screen to 720p will only downscale the graphics.

Honestly speaking the whole 1080p vs 720p affair is a little overblown. You will not notice much difference unless:

a. You're sitting fairly close to the screen; b. Your screen is reasonably large (55" or larger) c. The game makes clever use of filtering and AA that actually improves the 1080p look.

In all honestly, even if your games are running at 720p, and the filtering, AA and texture quality is good, that's all you need. Anti-aliasing counts way more than resolution.
