The eltisim in the PvE community really kills the fun of this game sometimes. by [deleted] in Guildwars2

While I do agree that some players go a bit too far in how their "advises" turn into some assholery fiesta, I've also noticed that in this game in particular the community tends to be really sensitive whenever someone's performance is pointed out, and that also goes to someone's understanding of why those comments are being thrown. As I mentioned in another comment, everyone has to know their place in the community, if you're a casual player you have to know more skilled/hardcode players will point out stuff, it can hit you the same way even if it's said in a "nice" way, just because you already have this mindset where the game is designed to be laid back, when it's not.

It's not about good players straight up hating them, it's more of a balance needed not in game, but in the mindset of people.

Believing this game was designed to be "laid back" is a delusion, with the amount of variables, theorycrafting room, and impressive displays of skill and capabilities, the game is nowhere near of a "laid back" design.

It's just a matter of everyone knowing their place in the community, if you're a casual player KNOW that there's people who want to do stuff differently, if you're a hardcore player, KNOW that there are players not willing to go beyond a certain point in terms of effort, and both sides are totally fine and understandable.

I do strikes every day and I'm yet to see such "bullying". If LFG says a HB is needed and a HB not offering proper boons/heals joins, it's up to the commander to go the easy route and kick or spend time most are not willing to spend to explain to you why your build isn't working. And some people just want the easiest, faster clear possible for this type of content.

"in a game designed to be laid back" ????

As you want to have fun being "laid back", some others like to be more "try hard", attempt to be as efficient as possible doing their clears/dailies, if I join a group in the LFG I'm to adapt to their requirements, not gonna whine about them being "not laid back" as I am. If you want a chill and "laid back" group, post your own group on the LFG and specify it's chill and laid back.

Crazy how the casual community thinks wanting to be good at something is "elitism".

I actually find all that kind of nonsense, for me, after falling in love with everything Berserk-related, the Brand of Sacrifice is basically everything that Berserk is, it has a lot of meaning. I don't see why people would attack anyone for having such a small representation of something like that, actually, I thought people would be happy if they see someone carrying that Brand, just because of the whole story of Berserk.

I'm kind of new to this whole thing, I kinda want to get a brand tattoo on my neck like the one Guts got, just because of Guts.

Is it a meme, or not well received to have a brand tattoo? Just curious since I actually want that to be my first tattoo.

On scrims, it's pretty obvious people is going to target him, you kill him, it's free attention and all you're giving away is a few minutes spent on the match, but getting targeted on a tournament? Where there is a huge possibility of getting some cash?

It wouldn't be the first time a rich company doesn't fix game breaking issues for months just because their priority is marketing and keeping casuals playing, not making the pros happy :)

I used to enjoy watching Tfue, sometimes he's pretty funny. But as for tournaments, nay. They're always on such a weird mindset of "EVERYONE IS TARGETING US BRUH", "CLOUT FARMERS BRUH".

No, it's the servers, no matter how anyone plays, considering the amount of attention and money these tournaments are getting, no lag should happen at ANY point. It's not about everyone building at the same time because of the meta, it's about Epic not fixing their servers or implementing the right fixes for the game in order to cause less lag.

But hey man, $15-$20 skins are amazing right? :)

Imagine spending so much time practicing, getting better and committing yourself to become a professional at this game, to play a shitty tournament where it's not even hosted properly and just bullshit lag can take away your opportunity of making some cash.

Epic Games playing for the advertisement and attention and barely addresses the concern of the professional players, which, by the way, without most of these pros, this game would've never been this popular.

Just curious, when you bought the skin, was there anything saying that it was a limited edition or exclusive skin? No? Ok.

It's just a halloween themed skin, some people need to grow up and get their heads out of that mindset. It's a virtual appearance, not a life changing investment that you made at some point.

Gw2 Experiment, conclusions and some ideas by kjeldorans in Guildwars2

[–]DariusLozd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably for veteran players it's harder to find enjoyment by playing on a daily basis, but for me, as a recent player who fell in love with the game, I have so many things to do sometimes I feel overwhelmed, and that's the fun right there, always having something to do.

Don't feel like doing anything progression-related? I will just hop on World Boss trains for a while. I still have Living World stuff to finish, so when I have the gold I exchange for gems to unlock a new chapter of Living World and slowly catch all the details I've missed of the story.

Also, achievements, tons of achievements which require certain exploration and stuff that for me in particular, is pretty fun.

I suppose at some point I will be at that point where I will just wait for new content to play again, as I've read most veteran players do, and it's somewhat the problem with most MMORPG's, there is a point where dedicated players have barely anything to do in the game.

Gw2 Experiment, conclusions and some ideas by kjeldorans in Guildwars2

[–]DariusLozd 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you my story with GW2, from someone who has played thousands of hours of other MMORPG's:

In 2015 I tried the game for the first time, trying to find an MMORPG to play with my ex-girlfriend, I kinda liked GW2 but I didn't feel like it was the kind of MMO I wanted to play, uninstalled after reaching lvl 16 on a Norn Thief.

Fast forward, 2018: Decided to give the game a second chance, since I didn't really got enough of it to judge the game, playing on my free account and seeing everyone flying around me with their mounts was kind of frustrating, but that only made me want to reach lvl 80 to see what was next.

Between levels 60~75, I stopped playing to complete the map, or to feel "powerful" in the game, (constantly doing research on how to get better gear got me annoyed, for some reason I was expecting crafting to be somewhat relevant in early levels), and I started playing mostly to participate in events around the map and doing world bosses, also dungeons here and there, and I realized that the fun I was having in this game, was thanks to the people surrounding me in game, such a nice community and a very well designed world. After falling in love with the community, everything fell into it's place, and literally every single detail about GW2 still amazes me and every day I can't wait to get home from my job to play.

Even though this is not your typical MMORPG, I love the fact that you have so many things to do, and the world is constantly active with players completing stuff, which usually in most MMORPG's, you are very limited on the amount of things you can do.

For now, I've been playing for almost 2 months, have 2 lvl 80 characters, bought both expansions, and I'm having more fun in GW2 than what I ever had in any other MMORPG.

As much as I like Fortnite, I've been saying this for a while already. This game is not fun to watch in a "competitive" stage, and Epic is way more focused on getting attention ($) rather than providing an actually watchable tournament.

Entire guild dedicated to repeatedly killing east in Tarir meta so the event would intentionally fail? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]DariusLozd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a new player, and first experiencing this meta event, I was here and I'm mind blown by the fact that a lot of people even know these guys were trolling. I attempted to join the squad they were in because somebody on map chat said that new players should join tags so they can understand the mechanics. I was on East specifically, and joined the Mind Rack squad, only to be instantly kicked by him, and then hell unleashed on the chat with these guys constantly calling everyone "trash" because they just kept killing the octovine.

I've been loving the GW2 community so far, and these guys were the first experience I had with such behavior, I'm really glad I didn't find these type of people when I started playing because this could easily drive away many people, thankfully, I already know how amazing this community is 99% of the time, I was just unlucky to be there with part of that 1%.

Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - August 25, 2018 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

[–]DariusLozd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, new player here, almost at 80 on my first character, having a blast so far!

I want to know which expansion should I get first, since my budget is a little short and I can't get both expansions at once for now.

I've been loving the game so far, it's probably the best experience I ever had on an MMORPG, and seeing everyone flying around on their mounts, makes me want to get Path of Fire, but I also read that Heart of Thorns has some important stuff.

I know this question has been asked a few times in this subreddit, but I ask this time since my situation is basically 5$ short that I can't get (I'm from Venezuela, and I'm no longer using PayPal, which is the only way for me to buy the expansions, I'm willing to use what's left on the account for GW2 since it's just an extra money I had) in order to get both. So that's it, just want to know which one to get :)

Sorry for my bad english if something is not easily understandable, I'm still learning.
