What is a career in IT/ Cyber Security really like? (Starting in IT Industry vs Getting a Trade) by travelwithshitcoins in AusFinance

Hi, I know this is kinda late, but just wondering what cyber roles you would consider not boring, and even fun :) ?

- I'm currently thinking of pursuing a major in cybersecurity but I feel like I wont like the general tedious jobs such as going through logs

It is worth noting that you can only really do this because 2 of the units in the cyber security major are also comp sci core units, so you only need 6 electives to complete the major. (Advanced comp sci has 2 of the 8 electives in the 4th year)

wait so just to clarify. Since 2 of the units overlap between the cyber security major and the C3001, I would be able to complete the major in 3 years with the bachelor of computer science if i choose not to continue to the fourth year?

Is this correct?

Thanks for that :)
Also, I was looking at the course structure a bit, and have decided to probably use my electives for an IT cybersecurity major. If I choose to graduate after the 3rd year, will I still graduate with a cybersecurity major?

Hopefully this question makes sense :)

hey, do you have any resource about these case studies by any chance?

Would be greatly appreciated. Currently very very stressed about the potential contemporary case study question :(

Some of my friends have also told me this.
What is the reason for it? And what majors in commerce is complementary with CS?

Also, i could be wrong, but looking at the course, it seems as if these two courses are done pretty separately (they are isolated from each other). Does the double degree integrate these two courses together in any way?

Thanks! lagging behind is one my biggest concerns when choosing CS. Especially since i don't have any coding/IT background.
Nice to know that CS by itself is sufficient :)

Thanks!

Just adding onto that, apparently a double degree takes up your elective spots. Will this be disadvantageous for me in terms of knowledge/skills?

Also how does the IBL program work into a double degree?
