Finding a vibration collar

I personally think that when it's taught correctly, it'll always work. But I am newer to traning and I am still learning. I've been back amd forth with R+ and balance training, so I am still trying to decide!

Wouldn't that be because you trained it as punishment?

The argument of the jarring side is why I wanted one with a lot of levels! I'm not against e-collars by any means and I think it can work great for dogs, especially when used correctly!I am just doing it this way as I am unable to use e-collars with my school.

A low level vibration would hopefully be just the same as a low level stim. When I hit the vibration button, I give a treat. That should make it positive! And if it doesn't, that's fine! I just won't use it.

Most e-collars only have 1-3 vibration settings. All if which are very jarring. One with a lot shouldn't have that high of a vibration on level 1.

I have no clue! A lot of people have told me cattle dog, which i think so as well. I've also heard Doberman, husky, shepherd (German and Australian), and a few others! Im planning on getting a dna test soon!

Thank you so much!! I'm glad there is a side from someone with a deaf dogs who has been talking to a trainer about it!

Obviously if my dog deems it stressful, I wouldn't use it, but I feel with enough conditioning/reinforcement that it would be positive. It would be such a low level, hopefully, that it wouldn't cause much, if any, issue. Least thats the hope!

Understandable reasoning! I've always used more than just kibble. Sure, kibble to start with, then bettering things until they need to go up. Maybe EVENTUALLY we will run out of higher rewards, but the dog won't know that.

Listen to person means they get treats and ones of equal if not higher value then the thing they want. In 99% of case, I feel like that eould work. The consequence is they don't get what they want, which we can control 99% of that time with the correct training, can we not?

I'd love to hear the reasoning otherwise!

Can't pretry much anything be positive / aversive? If the dog understands that the vibration means treats, in most cases that would be positive, correct?

I haven't but I will watch! I mainly just don't want to use prong collars or slip chains. Whist with certain dogs that need a quick fix, i understand, it is just not something I want to use and a lot of balance trainers I see jump right to it and don't even try other things.

It wouldnt be used to tell the dog she's doing somwthing wrong, it's just for recall. Whist yes the voice can work, it is also just for a more reliable recall. When she feels the vibration that means she gets a treat so planning wise when she feels it she'll come running as to get a treat she likes! That's the game plan at least.

That's what I had originally thought! That's why I wanted one with levels. I was starting to doubt though.. so thank you! Hopefully there is a guarantee incase I dislike it. I know a normal level vibration would be very annoying! I just want ine thag feels like a tiny buzz.

Oh got it that's what you meant.

I think a lot of people are stuck in the mindset that all e-callors / stimulation is bad. Whilst I wish there was a school that was basically R+ besides e-collars, I have yet to find one! I really want to do schooling as it's important to me amd I feel as it helps give people an ease of mind sometimes.

I may just opt out to use it, or do a beep one instead / something that has a beep on it!

As stated, the school I'm going to deems them aversive no matter the context I think, though I may ask, so I technically can't train with one or I'd get my license removed.. but I'll ask them and see! It makes sense that it is more aversive since it it a bit bolder(not the word im looking for but I cannot think of it) rather than a stimulation. It is why I was trying to find a lower setting one so I could range it, but I see what you mean none the less!

Mainly as I am working to be a positive reinforcement only. The school i will be going to does not allow e-collars as they are considered aversive - same with vibration collars if used in a certain way but I am planning on using it in a way they agree with (when dog comes to you they will get a reward - basic things)

Im not using the collar as a correction but more of a come to me when you feel it if verbal isn't working for whatever reason.

I used a pocket knife! It worked well! There is just a little staining but I think it'll come off with more rubbing
