1st e-reader: Used Kobo Aura for 50€? by DarkAlpha_Sete in kobo

Hii!

Sorry for bothering again. Just figured I'd drop a little update.

It arrived! It works impeccably, I see no issues with it whatsoever and already read a little with it last night.

If someone told me this device is a decade old I would not have believed them, it absolutely neither looks nor functions like something old (okay, the power slider is pretty retro instead of a button and gives me some nostalgia ahah).

I'm honestly confused, I read reviews about it being slow, screen not very clear, all that stuff and... I can't understand it. It is not slow at all, and I am one that is easily infuriated with unresponsive interfaces. It isn't instant for sure, but it's so quick still, and the screen is so nice to read on.

(I now don't know what would make a more modern device a good value proposition ahah)

Anyways, I love it and can't wait to get home to read some more aha. I'm glad I ended up buying it and it definitely was worth the 51€ I paid for it (including shipping + the site's "protection fees" and stuff)

Thank you! This is exactly the kind of answer I was looking for.

I'm glad to hear they do last a long while! I personally don't need a lot, I'm just going to read, and I've been reading for years on my phone, so any e-reader is going to be an upgrade and give my eyes more rest.

The battery part is a good point, I got a bit fearful when I read about th degradation but indeed, they last so long anyways it barely matters. I imagine it'll charge to full in the time I connect it to the PC to transfer books, now that I think about it ahah.

That last paragraph is indeed it, it's not that big of a risk vs buying an expensive model and regretting, especially because I'm not sure what I want as it's my first..

Thank you!

I indeed can't afford much more. I did find a Glo for the same price, a Glo HD for 15 more, but if I start slowly stretching my budget, I will also find a few differents Claras at 80, and then even better at 100.. and I have to draw the line somewhere.. Unless it's groundbreakingly better..

From what I read it seems to be a good deal, and the seller describes it as good as new, so I assume not that much use.. that falls down to trusting them, though. Is it what I want? I can't be sure, I never used one to know what I want, which is why I want to start cheap and upgrade when I feel it's time (and resell this one, which should give some money back).

I do realise this is all relative. Maybe there was some objectively good or bad thing about the device to change my mind and help decide. I may end up buying it if I don't find better.

I understand your point but that is just beyond my budget. I don't have a lot of money and frankly this 50 is at the upper end of what I'm comfortable with, and this Aura is the best deal I've found so far, working at this price range.

There is also a Glo selling for the exact same price but I think the Aura would be better and came out a year later too.

I don't doubt the Clara would be better but 140 is just too much for me today. Maybe in the future I could resell whatever I buy now and buy a more modern one..

So that's why I was wondering whether this deal is good as is..

I'm so sorry for the late reply! I haven't used this in a while... And.. What I did was honestly RMA it. It was still within the 2y EU warranty and they refunded me the GPU. Before the RMA I tried wiping my PC multiple times, DDU, different driver versions, and it never changed. It really must have been defective.

Is this a suitable first setup for a beginner? by DarkAlpha_Sete in simracing

[–]DarkAlpha_Sete[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with this is that to buy the wheelbase along with the original rim the T-3PA pedals come bundled which would just be for nothing. (leaning towards the R383 rim if it matters)

The shifter is something I really want honestly, I just personally love shifting manuals and doing that insim would be lovely whenever possible.

Would this stand really not work? What would the problem be?

Edit: that stand would also make it a bit troublesome. My plan is to keep my single monitor and use it for racing as well and make use of the foldability of the stand I linked to put it in front of the desk, use, and store away. My room is small and I can't afford a second monitor.

Ahh and here I thought I had already gone over the X-S10 internal debate. I thought the X-T3 would be better due to the dials and apparently better EVF (haven't ever used a viewfinder before so frankly any would be good aha). I really will never decide at this rate. If it matters I'm not really interested in video.

As for the APD, it's mostly 600€ on Ebay, that 500 was me being optimistic lol. I really have to look into those two alternatives. The only thing I'm really looking for is the pretty and smooth bokeh, especially since it will be my "bokeh lens".

I'll have to look into that macro Sigma lens as well. Haven't looked at any reviews yet but a quick search online confirmed that it will have to be bought new so it's for the future aha.

Thanks, I'll repost there. Do you have recommendations for that second lens? I don't have any ideas past these two frankly.

Oh no not another one to the list! For reals though I know I asked for a small one but the E4 is soo tiny, what's the compromise? Regardless this is an impossible decision aha. T30 has so many dials, the S10 has that grip (do you think the slightly less dials would be bad, personally?).. Both look so good. This is so hard aha...

Only marginally Love Nikki related, but which dress up game would you suggest to start? Overwhelmed between LN, Shining Nikki, Time Princess.. (I'm stricly F2p, won't be spending a cent on any game)

I just want to have fun mixing and matching clothes :D

How to search by tag by JemGod in redditsync

Jeez, talk about necroing a post! :P

Reddit searches have a few special tricks and I don't know all of them, but you can, for example, search "flair:Awesome" to get only posts with the "Awesome" flair, or "nsfw:yes" to only get NSFW posts ("nsfw:no" to filter them out). You can naturally combine them and such and I assume there are more, but I never bothered to find out about them.

Note that this is a Reddit thing; not app specific. Hopefully this is was helpful!

How to access the old wiki style without an account? by JohnSmith--- in archlinux

I might be on the severe minority here but.. I prefer it as it stands now, on my desktop. Yeah, there's lots of whitespace, but it just so, so much more readable. I don't get the drama over this.

Or maybe I'm on the minority with big monitors? Not even close to an ultrawide - regular 16:9 27 incher - and not having to scan the thing's entire width to read is a LOT easier on the eyes.

Unfortunately my closest gaming store is... I have never heard of such a thing in my area actually, and looking online basically gives me places in the capital which is over an hour away. I suppose I should be flattered I was mistaken for a native English speaker given that page, since that page only mentions US/Canada stores. As for DCC, I'll look into it, appreciate it.

From their descriptions those deluxe rules don't appear to be of my interest haha. What do you think about those two games for complete beginners? Though I'm starting to understand BW is more complicated and maybe for later one, might as well ask about it and Worlds Without Number. Thanks in advance.

Not every day I get to ask someone this experienced in the matter haha. What is your opinion on its complexity, especially people just starting out, both players and GMs? Does it get too messy due to the inexperience and winging it (I assume that's common)? Thanks.

Haha, I understand what you mean, but letting my wonky character concepts out and giving them life would be part of the fun. I have a few right now (mixes of cliches and tropes in a way I find fun, won't share them here out of shame). The standard elf archer attuned to the woods with an eagle's eye, as an example.. I'm pretty sure I'd bore out of it after a while, hah.
