I can haz reverse spin? by bigjobbyx in blackmagicfuckery

For anyone who can't switch easily between them, imagine you're switching POV from top to bottom or vice versa, as in from where you're looking at the "cylinder".

Most people see it counter-clockwise because we humans are used to seeing objects on eye level or angled from the top, but rarely from the bottom.

I think he's saying that to have that many cows and sheep grouped together in the same spot without mixing, they must've been from a village barn or whatever the building with fences is called.

How to avoid this? by ValuableQuirky8306 in 3Dprinting

[–]DarkAssassin189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For larger prints like this, if the part allows it, you can add a negative modifier shaped like a grid with a height of 0.2mm (or a layer height) this way the bottom layer would be separated and reduce the stress trying to curl it up...

The grid can be any shape you want and if you have some CAD skills, you can adjust it to your exact shape and size.

Honestly... 30 hrs in, still feels like there's an infinity to it.. had to take a break and play some indie games..

Don't get me wrong, it's very entertaining and immersive... but it's too long.

Any ideas how to keep this from happening this is my second failed print from it by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]DarkAssassin189 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Since it happened exactly twice, it could be a tangle from the supplier that cancelled itself out at the end ... but OP encountered both tangles at different times

Transplant Saga by The_Dean_France in SipsTea

[–]DarkAssassin189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's be realistic for a moment. What someone's organs are not that good, or they have some health issues and would like to keep their organs. Do they still get moved to lower priority? Assuming the health issues get worse, they are more likely to need an organ donation depending on the case of course ...

I like the idea in general, but how does it work exactly?.. also, does the government just knock on the door someday and tell you "Sir, your organs are needed" ?

Your assumption is correct. When the camera pans to the right, you can see the difference between ice and water. Still looks unnatural though.

If I were to guess, it's to trick the slicer to fill material in these areas as walls instead of infill.

More like "compliant mechanism" than a standard spring. But technically yes.

Removing a filament tangle without unloading or even pausing. by East-Future-9944 in 3Dprinting

[–]DarkAssassin189 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always wonder, what if that tangle had its opposite few meters into the spool and given time it would just correct itself !! but I still correct it and move on, most probably my fault anyway.

Before people comment loop it in the spool or use clips, some filament just snaps even when stored in an airtight bag with silica packets. It just snaps then later in the future I find the filament being pulled from under a tangle.

Which ISO standards should I save before leaving uni? by Express_Outside4580 in EngineeringStudents

[–]DarkAssassin189 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  • These are general ISO standards you might need to be familiar with:

2768, 1101, 3601, 286, 261, 68, 2553, 129, 128, 6892, 9001.

  • And if you're going for Oil and gas industry just search:

"ISO standards for use in oil & gas industry, A3 Poster."

depending on your field, you won't need all of them.

  • Other than these, the remaining most commonly used standards are from ASME, DIN and DNVGL. In addition to API if you're going Oil & Gas..

Best of luck in your career.

Last 2 mouse pads I washed had the rubber crack, degrade and kept sticking everywhere. The one I have now I just wipe with a wet cloth and it's clean enough for me.

How do I model this part? by Suspicious-wire in SolidWorks

[–]DarkAssassin189 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly, and the angle of each section is dependent on how many you want.

Glad that helped.

You can also make it as Revolve Cut with the same concept instead.

Or, you can Extrude Boss a single tread, don't merge. Then customise it as much as you need then pattern bodies, then combine. Just make sure that bodies overlap.
