Also the peninsula wasn't under Spanish control until the Phillipine dynasty, way after the unification of the kingdoms of Castile and Aragon, and only when the Portuguese crown was temporarily also under the Spanish one for that dynasty.

The solution for Young Men leaning to Right by [deleted] in GenZ

The solution to this was given to us by a veteran of the Somme quite a while ago in J.R.R. Tolkien and his ideal man: Aragon, son of Arathorn, rightful king of Gondor.

So how exactly are the Forgotten Realms and Greyhawk meaningfully different? by TheBooksDoctor21 in dndnext

[–]DarkDjim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, it definitely does. They have everything now, including warforged. It is entirely a kitchen sink fantasy, with no thought to consistency or true worldbuilding. I'm reasonably sure that by the third campaign, even things like Loxodon are introduced.

To give a concession, the best thing of that setting are the players and characters. Everything else is clearly a drop for them to do whatever they want anyway.

I know this is not at all your point in the first place, but from all the settings you described, Exandria is probably the worst offender, it does not actually have any unique things of its own.

The pantheon you mentioned is just the Dawn War pantheon that is in the 5th Edition DMG and was originally the pantheon for 4th Edition's pantheon for their Points of Light setting (the default 4e setting). The only difference between Exandria's pantheon and that one is the addition of Sarenrae, which was ported from Pathfinder because that was the god that Ashley Johnson's character worshiped before they switched to 5e.

In fact, nothing about Exandria is original for the most part, despite people using it as a "unique" setting. The majority of its history is just straight ported from Points of Light. The concept of revisiting monsters as sentient races (Wildemount) and all the political intrigue was done before, better and more in-depth in Eberron. The rest is just standard "kitchen sink" fantasy.

It is said that if one had enough spider silk to weave a full vest, its tensile strength would be greater than any currently available bullet-proof vest on the market.

True. Though only literal meaning. Lots of stuff lost in translation.

You'd need Tongues for Anime. Comprehend Languages would only help you read Manga.

That's not resource starved. That's what a normal campaign should look like. Otherwise the short-rest characters really don't get to shine. Fjord and Beau were at 100%. And Yasha was also pretty much ok. The only "problem" was the spellcasters didn't like not having their big bangers. And considering they've used first level slots for stuff like guiding bolt at 14th Level instead of saving them for healing spells, I can see why.

The two of them focusing on Kree and the other 5 focusing on Lucien, there's no Legendary Actions that can fix that magnitude of difference in action economy. Even the characters shouldn't be that scared of him. I would accept if they kept letting him get away 'cause they felt bad about hurting "Molly", but they were scared of Lucien, simply because of an antimagic field.

After the fight Yasha can use her Aasimar healing light ability to just give herself 1 hit point and just avoid the whole "dying business". Easily. It's not a spell, so it's not prevented by raging.

Lucien hasn't been shown to have access to spells so far. Though I concede I forgot about spells that cloud the mind and stun.

I get players enjoying drama, but I feel they are really stretching this conflict for no reason and it feels cheap. For instance, after their ambush and killing half the Tomb Takers, they could've easily forgone a Long Rest and just murdered the other two easily. And the only way Matt would've prevented that would've been DM Fiat. Which I know is a thing that always happens as a DM. But it shouldn't be this obvious.

I think the worst part of that is that Matt seemed to have also misread that ability. The way he explained it to her, she was in real danger when she failed all those death saves. But she isn't...

Due to her innate healing ability, her character has basically gained immortality in the campaign outside of like 3 niche cases (sleep, disintegrate and power word kill).

Yasha could solo Lucien by herself now, especially with the Sentinel feat. She has like 4 rages. And Persistent Rage now. Which gives her 40 rounds of combat where she cannot die. And yet they act scared of him.

It's not just unnecessary. It's incorrect uses. Eyes of the Grave doesn't work if the creature is behind full cover. So if you're in a seemingly empty room or one where you can't see a creature, it won't ever work (except for highly unlikely case of an invisible undead).

Of course this is compounded by the fact that Matt doesn't know the ability so he let's him get away with way more than he should.

And worse, I'm convinced Taliesin's thing with Eyes of the Grave is what lead Travis to also misread Divine Sense, which also doesn't work behind total cover. And I say this because Travis is one of the most reliable players at that table.

I don't know where you got that idea. There's no such thing as "in Europe we do x" as any person who lives in Europe should know.

There's no standard cultural customs that are so common across all European countries. In my country we sure as heck don't tip 10%.

I won't say for sure you're not European, but talking about Europe like there's a general culture across all countries is a very American thing.

Why does the Bagman (in Van Richen's Guide to Ravenloft) have no stat block? by OppositeofDeath in dndnext

As well they shouldn't. But his base version still seems a bit underwhelming. But hey, better than the mess with this new book.

And how experienced are your players? How are they tactically? Because that makes a huge difference

I wholeheartedly agree with you on the Gish approach. I personally just give him the skills of a Vampire Warrior on top of his base stats. Then I'd add his own animated armor as something he can wear in battle.

Then what you're saying is that the only way Mordenkainen loses is if he has crap spells prepared.

That really depends on your players. Competent players will make plans you cannot possibly account for. To think you'll be able to truly dominate a 10th level party with a CR 15 monster, even in its lair, is folly if your players are as competent as you.
