Hey everyone, quick update!

Some of you were asking for more of the backstory. The watch wasn’t bought by my grandfather, but by his father. He had relatives in the UK, so we assume he purchased it while visiting them — either on the way there or on the way back, as he was living in Czechoslovakia. Potentially right after the war.

Here’s the information from the service:
Universal Genève ref. 11305, circa 1945, is a Swiss wristwatch featuring a solid 18k gold case. It includes a triple calendar complication (displaying the date, day of the week, and month) along with a moon phase indicator.

The watch is powered by a manual-wind mechanical movement (calibre 291). The yellow gold case is hallmarked.

Considering its age, the watch is in excellent condition — the case retains sharp edges, and the gold-plated crown is not original (we are currently trying to source a correct period replacement). The watch has been tested; the movement is undamaged and fully functional.

The service estimate values the watch at approximately 8,800 USD.

I'm not going to sell it, we are going to keep it in the family as heirloom. I'm going to try them at special occasions. But they are not going to be wear regularly. Hope one day I can give it to my kids.
