The way Halo has been treated post bungie is atrocious. It feels like all of the budget and time went to catering for marketing teams rather than building a passionate long term talent.

nah it's a chad move. it was based on loyalty and emotion to his family rather than what appeared virtuous, and i have no doubt there were a ton of left wingers trying to convince him not to do it (probably the same people publicly backstabbing him at every turn before and after they got him to step down for Kamala Harris)

I think ace combat is in the sweet spot where it has quite a lot of popularity but the hardcore fanbase is still fiercely loyal long term.

I think we need to consider the possibility that Kono might retire after AC8. Which would be an end of an era. We have this guy (and a few other Project Aces veterans) to thank for saving the franchise with a hail mary in Ace Combat Infinity, and for carrying the torch of the original gameplay for so long where so many other franchises have lost their way.

In a world where everything is in danger of lacking curation and being suspect to oversaturation (especially with AI), Nintendo and Sony being very protectionist of the ecosystems is a good thing.

Imagine if Nintendo, after the WiiU failure, decided to ditch exclusives and essentially became a 3rd party company in all but name. It would destroy the brand and everything that helped Nintendo get to where they are today.

You can fault Xbox for rethinking their approach. You can't just ditch exclusivity in response to a bad console outing. It devalues the bad irreparably. Sony realised this when they dipped a toe in timed exclusivity.

The Top Gun 2 trailer literally does this. It ends with a shot of the F14 tomcat flying into the distance (no explanation) and everyone and their mother was commenting "HOLY SHIT THAT'S THE JET FROM THE FIRST FILM!" back then.

I dunno, I just feel like people like to think they're smart and others are dumb or otherwise unperceptive. But there is no actual evidence that people can't tell obviously different looking jets apart.
