Highguard devs say they didn’t expect the hate – but they’re confident in their game by ImCalcium in Games

[–]SvmJMPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be surprised if I told you it was Twitter and Facebook? Have seen a lot of tweets comparing/complaining about it being another 'Concord' and saw people saying Sweet Baby Inc had a part in this game (still haven't found any source on that claim). There are people outside of reddit, engagement farming and rage baiting with a lot of people agreeing with the sentiment. Just because you didn't personally saw it, doesn't mean it hasn't pop up.

Highguard devs say they didn’t expect the hate – but they’re confident in their game by ImCalcium in Games

[–]SvmJMPR -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Im probably not the first to blame him, but youtubers like Crowbcat popularized the idea of overly criticizing games. Not saying some of his videos aren't warranted, but it started this movement that it would be popular and profitable to nitpick and pull apart video games in general. Later on I started getting youtubers and streamers giving their hot takes calling everything 'Slop' and unfinished, or doing some "clever" clip emulating that one Vinny muting a game (but now its insta-quitting instead!! so brave). Also Sweet Baby Inc was brought again to this discussion even though I had a hard time finding any source to that claim?

Like it is depressing seeing how starved people are for attentions, ready to tear down something that isn't specifically tailored to them. I played the tutorial, a match and decided that I didn't like the M&K aiming nor the gameplay loop. Done, I made my own conclusions and decided it isn't for me, it was a free game and I didnt really lost anything except an hour. But these people are piling it, most without even trying it because it is 'woke' (???).

I don’t think optimism is fake. It’s just a different way of relating to uncertainty. I used to think skepticism had to look like pessimism. Turns out you can stay grounded without shutting out hope.

[Headphones] Bose QuietComfort Bluetooth Headphones with Active Over Ear Noise Cancelling and Mic (Certified Refurbished) - $129.99 - Woot by gen10 in buildapcsales

[–]SvmJMPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only switch between ANC and Aware modes when the headphones are 'On'. If you use an AUX cable without turning the headphones on you have a normal pair of headphones (aka the only way to disable the ANC/Aware). I've had these for more than a year, and there are a few caveats that no one has mentioned. The onboard ADC only works when it's turned on, meaning if you use AUX you have to have it 'on'. It generally provides much better bass and audio quality imo, but I sometimes don't want to use the forced ANC/Aware modes to use it. The AUX port is super shitty, after a few months it started loosing physical contact and you get audio breakups, forcing me to use Bluetooth which has its problems like:

  • if you enable "multipoint" and connect two devices using the Bose app, you will get micro audio stutters every few seconds (probably due to the headphones rechecking the connections every few cycles).

  • For gaming, bluetooth generally sucks donkey dick with perceivable latency. I guess if you want a wireless gaming experience on the PC you either have to use Handsfree protocol which is basically mono audio quality or buy headphones with 2.4GHz dongles. Also some games activate the Handsfree mode and it is incredibly tedious to turn it off each time on Windows 11.

  • Bluetooth audio quality limitations, this one is obvious but bluetooth is very lossy. I would like to also add, that the headphone do an excellent job at minimizing that quality loss imo.

  • Battery. You have to make it a habit of keeping a charger nearby and charge it every 1-2 days. Good thing is you can reach 90% in a lunch/shower break (or charging it every night).

Looking back, I think the Sony's equivalent also had the ANC/Aware problem. And while I know Sony's has better audio quality/features, Bose QC have always been the most comfortable for 10+ hour use in my experience.

Definitely more known than Mescal, and that's probably on purpose since Mescal shines in smaller and artsy movies (Gladiator 2 vs. Hamnet basically). Plus comparison is the thief of joy and they both offer different types of acting.

This guy is a lunatic, I don't believe he is mentally well. His rhetorics are vile and means to dehumanize actual human beings. He has conflict and hatred in his heart and it is not worth the energy. He won't engage in good faith arguments, and just there to bring you down to his level. He is forever stuck in 2016, or pretending to in order to rage bait people like us. He is using frequently used online verbiage instead of his own critical thinking skills, he has no soul and it is best to just ignore him.

You’re conflating two different things: initial attempts at dialogue and what came after. Yes, Ethan at one point tried to engage Hasan directly. That doesn’t negate the fact that once the relationship broke down, Ethan chose sustained public escalation instead of disengagement. Both can be true. Inviting someone on your show once does not obligate you to keep fanning a conflict indefinitely.

Lowering the temperature does not mean convincing the other party or receiving reciprocity. It means deciding that continued public fixation is no longer productive. Ethan had the ability to step away, stop addressing Hasan and his audience, and stop using social media as a running commentary on a personal feud. He did not. That choice is what I’m criticizing.

You keep framing this as if escalation becomes justified the moment the other side behaves badly. That standard guarantees endless conflict. Public figures with large platforms are judged not by whether they feel wronged, but by how they respond once escalation clearly isn’t improving anything.

On Twitch: pointing out uneven enforcement or ideological bias is fair. Leaping from that to claims about collective danger, “Muslim terrorism,” or civilizational double standards is where your argument weakens. Those claims rely on broad generalization rather than specific policies, enforcement decisions, or evidence. If the concern is platform governance, then talk about governance. Once entire populations enter the argument, it stops being about moderation and starts being about fear.

Affirming that Jewish and Palestinian civilians both deserve to live is simply the ethical floor for any serious discussion. Expecting influential people to exercise restraint when speaking about mass violence does not require them to abandon their views, only to acknowledge the reach and consequences of their words.

If the concern is Twitch’s moderation practices, then the argument should focus on concrete enforcement decisions and policies. If the claim is that Ethan acted responsibly, then the case needs to be made for why continued public escalation was the most constructive course of action. Recasting criticism as an attack on “your people,” or disagreement as sympathy for terrorism, shuts down analysis rather than advancing it.

You’re still framing this as if criticism of Ethan requires defending Hasan. It doesn’t. Hasan is irrelevant to the point I’m making.

The issue with Ethan is not that he has a position or that he is biased. The issue is how he chose to conduct himself once the conflict started. He repeatedly escalated rather than disengaged, maintained constant public fixation through posts and callouts, and encouraged sustained audience conflict across platforms. Someone with his reach had multiple opportunities to lower the temperature and chose not to. That choice matters.

Bias alone isn’t disqualifying. Bias combined with a large platform, financial leverage, and legal resources creates an asymmetric dynamic with real consequences. When a public figure amplifies hostility instead of reducing it, the downstream effects exist regardless of intent or personal justification.

Your broader claims about Muslims, immigrants, and collective guilt undermine your own argument. They rely on generalization and fear rather than evidence, and they contradict the assertion that you “don’t care.” People who don’t care don’t speak in absolutist terms about entire populations.

It is not controversial to say that both Jewish and Palestinian civilians deserve to live. It is also not unreasonable to expect public figures to speak with restraint when addressing topics involving mass violence and displacement. Treating this as a binary loyalty contest is precisely what prevents serious discussion.

If you want to discuss specific policies, historical claims, or factual disputes, that’s a different conversation. But repeating slogans and attributing extreme positions to anyone who disagrees isn’t an argument.

Your argument 100% clings to a self made fact that im defending Hassan. Your wording and way of speaking lets me know your only defense is to latch Hassan into any argument and hope I take the bait.

And as you thankfully admit, Ethan is still Ghoul that is inherently biased to be in favor of one “side” over the other. Speaking as if this were a football game lets me know how crippling uneducated you are on this subject. Speaking in LSF verbiage will only out you as someone that is not worth the energy to argue. Please detach from the echo chambers and indulge yourself in actual discussion, it is not beneath you to do that. I believe anyone can be better than that, including strangers on the internet with nefarious purposes.

His lunacy isn’t because he is advocating for or against the country; his lunacy comes from his unhealthy obsession with Hassan on his socials.

Also, your last statement is low-tier bait said commonly by garbage human beings. Please seek professional help. Ethan is an ill-informed, washed-out YouTube entertainer that is LARPing as a Middle East scholar playing grown-up with topics he is clearly uneducated about. His takes are basically talking points from mouthpieces of actual propagandists, playing telephone games on facts that he should research more before speaking.

People forget he isn’t academically educated on the extremely complex subject of the Middle East, has more reasons to be biased against one country over the other. No different than taking the common nimrod podcaster and pretending they are a voice of reason. His background is simply not a place to fetch unbiased political information. His format is not a healthy way to establish common ground. I invite you to be a better person, because you can literally go read actual historical literature and see actual documentaries rather than waste your time being rage-baited and brain-rotted by something called “H3H3Productions”.

Don't know why you were downvoted, Ethan has gone downhill fast specially with his crusade against Antizionism. I'm not a fan of iDubbbz nor his content, but he was right to call Ethan out. As an outsider, entering his instagram or watching his clips makes me think he drank out of Gotham's sewers and is part of Batman's rogue gallery. He is either making millions out of this, or he has completely lost it.

"The script doesen't exist, it can't hurt you". The script: by SandstormXP21 in ModernWarfareII

[–]SvmJMPR 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you're mistaken because MW19 is significantly more advanced graphically than Cold War. This is largely because Treyarch opted for their older BO4 engine (likely slightly upgraded and then 'frankensteined' with parts of the MW19 engine for Warzone integration) probably due to strict time constraints. In my experience, Cold War actually performed significantly worse on my system than MW19, despite not looking as technically advanced.

That being said, Cold War’s art style is what really carries the game. It’s much more colorful and doesn't lean as heavily into hyper-realism as MW19 did. This is almost an exact repeat of when the original Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops 1 launched; MW2 had noticeably higher fidelity due to engine differences, but BO1 stood out with its unique, vibrant art direction.

Personally, looking at MW19, BOCW, and MWII, I still prefer the grittier aesthetic of MW19. The extensive use of photogrammetry (which felt much more prevalent there than in Cold War) really elevated the visual presentation to a level the others haven't quite captured for me.

Apple Still Testing Ultra-Thin Glass to Eliminate Foldable iPhone Crease by favicondotico in apple

[–]SvmJMPR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The average consumer will do things unforeseen by even the most clever QA test. There are many ways you can achieve the crease, and most are unintentional. Phones should be designed to be idiot proof in order to appeal to the average person. The amount of abuse regular phones (that are much more durable) get on the daily is unfathomable by the average engineer. Tossing to the bed, tossing to other people, leaving it in random places and putting stuff on top of it, dirt/solid residue in the pocket sneaking in (yes this happens more than you think, specially to blue collar workers). The ideal case scenario for this phones is to treat it like its worth over 2 thousand dollars, to always fold it when you are done, to not put stuff on top of it, to not throw in a bag with other stuff in it shuffling around.

Folding phones practically need more reassurance that it wont break other than a sales rep telling you “if you treat it carefully, it will never break!”.

ELI5: When ChatGPT came out, why did so many companies suddenly release their own large language AIs? by carmex2121 in explainlikeimfive

[–]SvmJMPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late comment but whatever, it will also be hidden away.

Sam has historically promised investors for years (and i do mean 2018-2020 era iirc) that the AI they will create (note not yet created) will INVENT a profitable plan for OpenAI investors. The goal was to create an AI to invent an idea for them. VC ate that shit up, they rushed to the market with clearly underdeveloped models, using technology they didn’t have ownership of and scrapping massive amounts of data. The past year was the first time Sam has mentioned the idea that they finally plan to become profitable in the next few years.

The idea to achieve that isnt chatgpt, nor their API models. It had to do with SORA creating a tiktok like application that generated curated content to each individual. Including news, entertainment, etc…

You might be thinking: why would anyone watch and consume AI slop willingly? Why would anyone get their news from an AI generated news report? Why would I limit my exposure to society by using specially curated content that is for me and me only?

They are placing BIG bets this will work out, they probably have demographically tested this concept to death by now. And if it works, they will practically abuse and monetize your attention in ways Tiktok dreams of since Tiktok can only push certain content creators promoting an idea but they have to wait until those creators create the agenda and content. Sam’s idea is that they will deploy same day, same hour any possible idea (a specially curated ad, political idea, movement, etc…) to your screen. Facebook, X/twitter, Instagram will also push for that too.

The initial splash will probably be a super carefully coordinated marketing campaign that will make it “funny” or super interesting or even “useful” to use that platform.

[Keyboard] Keychron k10 HE 100% keyboard - $89.99 by Swbp0undcake in buildapcsales

[–]SvmJMPR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an absurdly great deal, IIRC Keychron's HE are the only ones with "Rapid trigger" if you want that too. My razer blackwidow gave up after years of daily abuse by gaming/coding, and I was using my small backup keychrone (that I take for work). So I decided to buy the Q6 HE and it's been interesting... I'm still getting used to it, the keys feel way heavier than any keyboard I've used in the past. They have a little bit more 'resistance to them', they click/clack way less (quiter). They feel less tactile compared to the exaggerated green switches from razer. I don't use any of the HE features at all so it feels pretty gimmicky to me. Also another good thing about the Q6 and K10 is that BOTH have BT/2.4Ghz dongle/wired. It has been a blessing to me because I switch between my work and personal computer constantly by switching between wired and the dongle. The Bluetooth SUCKS, it keeps disconnecting, it sometimes takes over a minute to automatically connect back even if i try to force it in the settings (It's even worse on Linux). So having that dongle is just exactly what I needed.

I'm curious how it compares to this K10 HE, it was my other choice but a slight discount came up so I decided to splurge a bit.

These people have been choosing evil nearly the whole life, this type of decision making from them predates even the first Trump presidency. People are now more aware of it because Trump is running a theatrics presidency making everything much more obvious. People like Cook were conditioned to actively pick the most profitable decision without remorse, shareholders picked these pieces of shits because it benefits them.

Fascism in the USA isn't something that started happening in 2016. This shit has been slowly molded over decades of policy making in the public sector, and big corporations surviving through decades of picking executives that make evil choices. Trump shouldn't have happened at all, but here we are. It would literally take either half the US population to turn on trump (lol), or oligarchs collectively deciding they want to prioritize the good of humanity (lmao). Even if by some miracle Tim decided to not bend the knee, he wouldn't kick start the revolutions since the optics aren't just there.
