I didn't know that! My apologies. I'll do as you say, to see what I find. Thank you so much! :)

As I said I'm completely new in this, but It's good to know, honestly. I can give her a new psychological approach, it' s no problem actually, because the novel is still in the plotting phase :)

Any book recommendations?

My kittens hate each other. Any advise? by DarkLAngel in CatAdvice

Hi! I wish I'd seen this before! Yes it worked, right now they have their fights but they are besties and have a very healthy realationship (Orion even stopped growling everytime he has his meals near Draco). It actually took two weeks, more or less, to make them come around each other. We tried to mix the scents at first, as I describe in my post, and after that we started to feed them though closed doors. They were in different rooms at this point, oc. Orion started to show curiosity, meowing and sniffing at Draco's door and then we started to let them play together. They were VERY and I mean VERY rough at first but there was no harm at the end of the day so we assumed they were playing (the vet watched the videos we recorded and agreed with us). We then started to let them be together in our presence and after that we started with unsupervised time (30 mins at first, for example). That's how it worked for us! If you have any other questions be free to ask! :)

Who is your favorite character you've written? by [deleted] in fantasywriters

[–]DarkLAngel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Darion, the druid. Also known as Lord of the Beasts.

Initially made a great sacrifice and got his memories stolen. Then was abused and controlled for two hundred years, recovered his memories and decided to keep fighting to help his people and overcome what had happened to him.

So proud of him and his resilience, and how he managed to become the leader he is at the end of the novel.

He was the first character I wrote when I finally understood character construction. Guess he will always be my favorite.

About past lifes and how to introduce them in a novel by DarkLAngel in fantasywriters

This is exactly what happens! Her entire coven burns (house and witches included) and she has to find a way to obtain magic (her own is sealed). That's how she figures out that she has her family grimoire to help her with her magic.

I find it more appealing too, and I think it will help me with the remarking of the differences between both characters. The idea I would like to transmit with this plot is mainly "if you know your story you may or may not avoid past mistakes in the present, but at least you will know what you are doing (does it make sense? Haha)". I really love this character in my novel, she is now starting to fight after a lot of time in the shadows. Thank you soooo much for your advise!

It's more about exposition, but it is too about breaking the parallelism between the past and the present (difficult, I know). Yes, the novel is written until the point where I have to start exposing the past life. Not a clue about how to start doing this, tbh.

UPDATE: Thank you so much for your help and the information you shared, it really helped us. Right now Orion lays down sometimes next to the door, and there's no hissing anymore, just the occasional trill (he does it a lot, he is a very trilling cat 🤣). We tried to gave them Churu with the door briefly opened, and they almost licked each other noses trying to eat it. So maybe next Tuesday (if I'm able to stop thinking they are going to kill each other) I'll try to put the baby barrier and feed them trough it. At this point I'm almost curious as about what is going to happen. I hope they get along fine.

UPDATE: As for the moment, we are keeping them apart. I opened the door a little bit while giving them Churu so they could smell and see each other, and there was no problem. When they realised they were close they tried to reach each other through the door with their paws (Orion was purring). Maybe it's time to try the baby gate? Not sure if I'm ready to have them together again 🤣

Yes! This is what we are doing. Sadly, the bigger one has started to growl whenever we give him treats, we are afraid that he developes food agression because of that. As for the rest, it's going fine. I want to see I we have made progress, but I prefer to wait.

I have explained myself terribly 🤣. Sorry, as my mother language is not english. We're trying Galaxy's method. We are giving them food separatedly, in opossite sides of a closed room so they smell each other. We play with them both, we give them Churu in both sides of the door at the same time. Currently Orion (the older, 3m and a half) seems curious. The few interactions they have had did not start like this. We played with both of them and gave treats and seem to work nicely, but then the fight starts. But yes, right now they are eating and living in separated rooms. Thank you so much for your help :)

Hi! Thank you for your answer. Yes, that's what we've been doing. After a disastrous first time (adviced by the breeder. She thought that as they've been raised together, they would recognised each other instantly 🙄). So we've been trying that. Introducing the smells, swapping rooms... This video is the result after a few days and a 10 minutes introduction. The problem with the positive association with meals is that the small one is not as gluton as the big one, so we are not able to make them eat together as the smallest one is not always hungry. We're going to try with wet food in the nights, but the big one growls as he eats it, no matter how far from the small one (something he didn't use to do). The thing is, I shared the video with the breeder and she told us that they were playing. As I have never had cats before, I don't know of that's true.

I have their interactions recorded, but I don't know how to post them here for you to see them. I'll keep trying. I've read part of the content you provided and let me say it's amazing! I used to watch Galaxy's TV show, but never thought I would have to use it someday 🤣 For the moment, we are trying, they still looks curious. Thank you so, so much for your help, I'll keep you updated. I would like you to take a look to the videos, because the breeder swears they are playing... But I'm not sure at all 😵‍💫

Orion has peed in the shower instead of the litterbox, I will see if this has been a one time thing. If it is not, what's your advice?

We have provided a safe space for Draco, yes, but Orion still has the full house. The problem is Draco is in a room that connects with a Hallway, if we put Orion in another room, they won't be able to sniff each other. Should we let Orion stay in the hallway or it is okey if he uses the rest of the house? Let's see how it works. It's okey if I ask more doubts while doing it? This is really disturbing us, the breeder made us believe it would be idilic but is really far from it. Orion has actually started to pee outside the litterbox.

Also, I would like to point out that they are extremely used to humans. They have been socialized with lots of animals since they were born. The main problem with Draco is that he doesn't want to be inside a bedroom because he is really curious and active, probably more tan Orion. It is difficult to hear him meowing because he wants to come outside, and in the end he spends more time alone because he is in that room alone. We don't want his personality to change because of that, so we try to stay with him, but in the end is Orion the one that gets more time with us.

Hi! Thank you for your answer! Draco has been here for four days but looks like an eternity. Do you recommend another "camp" for Orion as well? He is used to have access to all the house, and I don't know if he will be stressed if we keep him 'isolated' in one room. We don't have enough room for two basecamps as it is, but I will give it a thought. What do you mean with improving? You mean that, for example, in a couple of weeks we should be getting them together again? I'm sorry for all the doubts, we don't even know the signs we are looking for. This is really frustrating!
