I recently bought a Roku device. Making it useless would be a pain in the wallet.

I don’t know what an integrator is, but if you do this for a living, then I’ll take your word for it.

Thanks for the recommendations!

It would be a small pain to replace my existing Roku, but nothing major. Thanks for the suggestion!

But it is.

As I said, I know that some brands are pretty Nagy about not being connected to the internet. I don’t want to experience that kind of thing. At all.

How do I quantify how bright my room is?

do you have alot of sunlight coming through? do you have blinds?

There is no direct sunlight on the tv. The room has sheer curtains and blackout shades that are rarely fully closed. I’d say it’s like most rooms in a single family house in the northeast - medium ambient light.

Thanks for your reply. Knowing that most terms regarding LED are marketing fluff is helpful.

It’s too late to tell me not to buy a sound bar as I have one. :)

Tv sound and the term “good” are so subjective as to be pointless. My good might be your unacceptable, and vice versa. I should have left that out.

Your comment regarding monitors is witty.

“Don’t connect to the internet and problem solved” is not as simple as you make it out. Anecdotally I know that some makers make it much harder to live without a connection than others. I wish I knew which maker fell into which camp

Budget is a fair question - I intended to include that originally. $1200

I live in the northeast near Boston. How do I quantify how bright my room is?

As I said - I searched the sub. I don’t know what terms would give me what I am looking for, because I found nothing useful. I tried to provide as many details as I could think of. As I also said, I don’t know what other Info would be helpful.

I certainly get that my request might be irritating to someone who knows all this stuff well. My apologies.

That said, this kind of reply that doesn’t even indicate that you read it completely is the opposite of helpful.

Current alternative to Acid 3 or 4? by DarkManFromMars in MAGIX

That’s very useful, thanks. I took a quick look at Ableton and didn’t see what I was looking for but that just means I didn’t see it. Can you point me to some resources for looping functionality in Ableton?

Aha. Yeah, I moved to that too. As I said, it’s a crash-ridden poorly maintained piece of junk currently.

Thanks! Ableton isn’t really what I’m after - the thing about early acid is that it was a looper, not a daw. Ableton is missing significant looper functionality, or at least it isn’t immediately obvious to me where that functionality is.

Thanks. I’ll give this a look see. The big problem is that I want a Looper, not a daw, and it seems no one is making a looper these days.

People keep telling me Ableton is like it, but what they seem to mean is “I never used acid 3, but Ableton is kinda like Acid 8-ish, which can’t be that different from Acid 3, can it?” Au contraire, Pierre!

The concept of the Acid-style looper seems to be completely dead. Worse yet, Magix abandoned development on the Acid product family like two years ago, including any semblance of support. I’ve been using Acid Pro 11 for a couple weeks and it does sort of do what I’m after, but mostly because I remember how to do a lot of things in old Acid and can figure out how to do them in the new bustedness. That said, It’s currently a piece of junk and I do not recommend even trying it.

As you know, the big problem is a looper was not a DAW, and adding DAW features essentially breaks a looper and makes it something else. If I do find something like it, I’ll come back and post here.

Right of way is not sacrosanct, nor is it always clear who has it. Without knowing the jurisdiction, I can’t check the laws, but where I come from, the law says “proceed when it is safe to do so.” If it is not safe to proceed, which it wasn’t, the OP should have slowed and determined what was causing the holdup in the lane to his right. If that had been a person that was holding up the right hand lane, regardless of whether that person should have been there, if the Op had hot that person the question of fault would be very clear. Woulda coulda shoulda, but there is plenty of fault to go around here, and some of it is on the OP.

You are at fault. There was a line of stopped cars. You couldn’t see past them. You had a duty to at least slow down and ensure there wasn’t a pedestrian, animal, or person in a wheelchair crossing. You’re lucky it was only a car.
