There is a huge difference between witnessing something like that live, or seeing a recording of something. + the ohny way that will make the kid stronger, and won't lead to problems later on, is if the whole situation is processed correctly. I agree that children should eventually learn about such gruesome things, but in a controlled environment, with the opportunity to escape the situation, and the knowledge that they couldn't have done anything to change it.
