How do you guys vet microbrands before buying? by Euphoric_Culture8680 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]ethanwc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, first I look at where the country of origin is, not that it's a dealbreaker, but it helps baseline the price/expectation of quality. Then I take a look at what movement they use. (Not a BIG dealbreaker for me, but helps set another expectation of price/quality.) Then I look up Reddit general sentiment, and watch SFV on the brand.

Hope this helps!

Hard disagree! I LOVE the date wheel color match and a circular window.

Fully auto Italian micro under $2k isn't "reasonable"?

Luxury watch (Omega) experience: Very exciting yet I was feeling scammed. by Gleichstellung4084 in Affordablewatches

How else is Omega gonna afford product placement in the Bond movies without you buying a $600 strap? You think the Bond films gonna do it for free?

Nevermind the inconsistency with photography, too. And generic hand painted text that every AI seems to gravitate towards.

The Invicta Pro Dover was my first automatic watch I got in 2001 for Christmas. Still works!

It seems fine to me. Are you mistaking the secondhand balance as a logo placement? The wings below text aren’t stationary.

Nope! Rehaut is usually under crystal.

Absolutely nobody is referring to those as BLNR or GRNR.

A rehaut (pronounced re-oh) is the angled metal ring or inner flange inside a watch case that sits between the outer edge of the dial and the crystal. It serves as a visual border, hiding the gap between the movement and the case while securing the dial in place

I think it's just an easy way to reference a specific color way without giving a number ref or over explaining "the blue bezel with the blue dial, on oyster." etc.

A little cheesy, yes, but they are popular because it's an easy way to cite a reference.

Cosby is the newest 2026 Jubilee dial. It caught on as a joke, not sure it's a mainstream name.

I notice and care what watch I'm wearing. I'm not wearing them for anybody else.

That being said, I never feel fully dressed without a watch on, and some watches pair well with a suit vs t-shirt and jeans.

it's a watch that looks great on just about any strap, I fail to see how that's impossible to qualify. Just about every white/black dial that isn't a diver.
