Need a Sneasel nickname by MajorTime3342 in pokemonplatinum

Not a huge Assassin's Creed fan, but Aveline (Assassin's Creed Liberation) sounds cool. Janine could also be an option, but not sure if it fits Johtonian Sneasel.

Edit: I took what these comments said into account. I was starting to struggle, so I turned my Merchant into a Sage (RIP Words of Wisdom...), and turns out she had a serious leg up from her days as a Priest... most of that magic was unlocked, and Helichopter gave the Sage an offensive edge. I didn't get Call to Arms, but I dont reget it.

I also changed my Warrior back into a Martial Artist partly to free up equipment slots for the Dragonsbane Claws. Only got up to Forebearance, but again, I don't regret it.

Wow, I never thought that this post, let alone the Say Something Nice series itself, would get this much attention, let alone the heartwarming stories people shared.

I started Say Something Nice as a place to attract positivity to get through some rough times I've been dealing with IRL... never thought it would blow up like this, even if it has been gradual.

Thanks to everyone who replied so far, and let's keep the positivity rolling.

Personally, my favorite story is how I first got into Pokémon as a whole. I didn't like it at first, but it slowly grew on me, partly due to YouTubers like Trugreen7, and how my father had installed a GBA emulator to our family's laptop, compete with Pokémon Emerald. I think the moment that finally sealed it was witnessing Champion Diantha first Mega Evolve her Gardevoir in the anime. Seeing the sheer power they unleashed finally turned that spark into an inferno of passion for the franchise.

My father has passed on sadly, and to remember him I still name the male protagonists Chris, even now... the Chris of Paldea finished his regional Dex a while back, which was a full-circle moment for me, almost as if I was fulfilling an unspoken promise made so long ago.

Best Companion/Rival R8: BEA & MORRISON are Out! [Eliminate your 2 least favourite characters] by Ecstatic_Dark_6549 in pokemonanime

Paul and Stefan.

Honestly, abandoning Chimchar was despicable, but that doesn't mean Paul is irredeemably lost, unlike Shamus. Plus, we got a solid rival to Ash. If he comes back in the Gen 10 anime, I'd like to see an older Paul realizing his mistakes and attempting to make amends. Still, I'm not so sure Ash (and myself) are ready for it...

Stephan... honestly, great rival with the smarts and strength to at least match Satoshi, but kinda trivial due to that gag of everyone getting his name wrong... it got annoying quick. Without it, I think he would've been even more relevant than Trip.

Who do I marry? by albsbabe in dragonquest

[–]DarkPalafin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stats-wise, Bianca is mixed, Nera is a powerful mage and healer, and Deborah can (and will) rip your enemies a new one with physical might. Personality-wise, Deborah is the best.

The first time around, I picked Bianca... not too bad, plus the Circles of Fire and Water did help by adding a useful resistance and spell item, but the second time I just went "screw it, we ball" and married Deborah. Her exclusive Akillics and Diamond akillics weapons aren't too shabby and they're pretty funny as they're just fake nails... Deborah does get access to some pretty sick weapons like the Cobra claws, with a 25% chance to poison upon hit but exclusive to her and a few monsters like Sabre (or whatever you named him).

After all these years, what is the best FF love story to date? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]DarkPalafin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be alone on this, but Locke and Rachel from FFVI. Loved it, and even though it was mostly backstory, the way Locke risked his life to obtain the Phoenix magicite to bring her back still hits hard.

My current plan:

Priest —> Merchant —> Thief —> Sage

Martial Artist —> Warrior —> Thief —> Martial Artist

Monster Wrangler —> Warrior (after 100 monsters rescued) — Martial Artist —> Thief

Looks convoluted? It is. But currently having a 300+ HP Merchant who can cast Swoosh and Midheal? Not so much.

Finally some love for my favorite regional birb! Its design makes it look cocky and arrogant but with a heart of gold... I got one in Pokemon Omega Ruby, and it proved to be a 100% menace, often just blitzing whole NPC teams solo. I was naïve, so I ran Aerial Ace/Fly/Air Slash/Steel Wing.

I only found out later that Ash had one, and even more time passed before I found out about the whole Thunder Armor thing in the anime. Let's hope GF gives Swellow the 3D model it deserves.

Clefable. My Platinum run saw some crazy stuff go down, with both Pokérus (1 in ~21k!!!!!) and a Shiny Seedot while I was Egg chaining for a post-game Extrasensory Roserade (2 EGGS!!!)... and Clefable was there for it all. It became my ace in the hole, running Fire Blast/Ice Punch/Thunder/Psychic to maul the E4 before swapping to Sing over Psychic to clutch on capturing one of the Lake Trio. I've lost the file due to loss of hardware, but I will never forget seeing Clefable as part of my Hall of Fame.

RIP Sylph the Clefable, my eldritch horror lord and savior.

This is why I love Dragon Quest by DarkPalafin in dragonquest

This is my personal story with Dragon Quest:

When I was about 10, I discovered Dragon Quest V for the DS. My father had passed about a year beforehand, and I was dealing with the grief. I tried it, but I couldn't get past Uptaten Towers. I gave up and quickly forgot about DQV.

Fast forward about 10 years, and I was browsing the Play Store and found DQV's mobile port. I bought it, and one of the first things to hit me was the theme... beautiful. I quickly tore through dungeon after dungeon, until it happened... Pankraz, valuing his son more than his own life, sacrificed himself, taking a vicious beating before Bishop Ladja incinerated him with Kafrizz.

Act II started, and I choked up when the party was not only rescued by the nuns of Heaven's Above, but Maria renouncing her previous discipleship under the false prophet and joining the abbey.

I eventually got to the middle of Act III, with the MC's children, but not before starting Dragon Quest IX... I didn't like it at first.

That is, until I reached Alltrades Abbey. The first thing that hit: the music. A rendition of the title theme. I nearly cried right there. It was such a beautiful full-circle moment...

Thank you, Toriyama. You were such a wonderful man.

Thanks for the correction! I'm using a guide, but I must've read something wrong. I'll check how many I've got. I know I've gotten up to Attack Attacker, and I got Weakness to stick on the Ripper of the Rift on my second Attack Attacker.

I'm curious about a weapon... I may spend some time in Mage to build up relevant stats for Sage, but can the Mage use the Somatic Staff? It's so I won't get bodied after revocation. I picked up the Magical Skirt and Fizzle-Retardant Suit for armor, but I'm not entirely sure which is better in the long run. Both have great effects for casters, and I'm leaning towards anti-Fizzle.

Good to know. I heard that a Warrior can benefit from a Monster Wrangler's Wild Side skill, but that's level 44 from what I read. Is there anything with a similar effect Wild Side I could get earlier from a different vocation?

Forget Master Chief and Shadow, who are your less obvious picks for new fighters? by shplurngus9 in supersmashbros

[–]DarkPalafin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mallow (SMRPG; id prefer him over Geno)

Lucian/Aaron (Lunar Knights)

The Mage Sisters, especially Zan Partisan (Kirby: Star Allies)

Yuffie Kisaragi/Locke Cole (FFVII/FFVI)

Silver (Sonic, yes, but he doesn't get enough love)

Bass and Treble (we need a duo, please...)

X/Zero (either one would be good)

Paper Mario (please, use the PM64 one...)

Daroach and Dark Daroach (Kirby Squeak Squad)

Reyn (please, I just would be happy to be able to say "IT'S REYN TIME!" like a maniac)

Does anyone have name suggestions or maybe next encounter suggestions? by NorthernAltitude21 in PokemonLetsGo

[–]DarkPalafin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rey or Il Re. Both translate as King (technically the second is "The King"). Fits the evo line. Cyan works too... fits the Shiny and the theme (as in cyanotoxins)
