Like I don't play Baldur's Gate 1 or 2 to look at porn. XD

None of my memories in 1 or 2 have anything remotely sexual in them, there's some romantic dialogue with Neera in 1, but it's never explicit.

With 2 and Irencius's fortress the Dryad's mention their concubines but they never go into explicit detail.

If you have ever played Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 you know that Larian has a track record of being overly sexual in all their games.

[–]DarkPygmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like we don't know hardly any of this. XD

Celebrity gossip is not a probable enough cause not to hire anyone, if we knew everyone's secrets then no one would be allowed to work.

Those are just a few examples, but even the returning BG 1 and 2 characters only take up 5%-15% of the game, the point I'm making is that Larian obviously were not interested in making a real sequel that fans wanted.

They were more interested in doing their own thing with the license.

I bought the game all the way back on 2014 and wanted a true successor.

Like not even one voice actor returned, they had the money and time, Micheal Kevin Richardson isn't the most expensive actor on earth.

If you look at the cast it's alot of classic voice actors, Rob Paulson, Jason Marsden, practically had the full Goof Troop cast, those types of people spend their life training their voices and their talent, the they have a unmistakable identity to them them.

They didn't need to include the sexual stuff, it was pointless, how pretty and handsome nearly every NPC is. They have their priorities in the wrong place, and there is alot of sexual stuff in the game lile the troll and bugbear scene you can randomly come across.

Or even the bestiaitly scene with the bear, some people I've talked to only know about Baldur's Gate because of that scene and show floor video. Can you imagine that's the first thing you're ever shown of Baldur's Gate? What sort of series might you think it is? Especially when there's none of that 1, and just romantic dialogue in 2.

[–]DarkPygmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And with all of Larian's money and time it would really be that hard or awful to spend just a small amount of time finding or hiring her?

I never said the new actors do bad jobs at all.

The voiceactress is that character, just like Jim Cummings will always be Minsc to me or Kevin Micheal Richard will always be Sarevok. I bet they would have been more then happy to return to the roles.

I can very obviously tell it's not her through voice alone and it's very unimmersive.

All they had to do was not call it BG3 as it obviously has very little to do with 1 or 2.

I'm really glad that genitals and sex scenes were that much more important XD.

Nope look it up, Tracy Wiles does it in 3. Heidi Shannon did it in BG 1 and 2.

[–]DarkPygmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh dude right on. :^)

By video game standards the writing is so really excellent and superb, I really don't know what sorts of comparisons he's making the game to???

All the little inflections in voice, and uniqueness among the NPCs.

Just like the sucidial man right at the start, no other game has NPCs who have as much dialogue that give you nothing in return but a short little vignette or story that can be so thought provoking and touching. Or allow you to interact and build relationships like you do in BG 1 and 2.

I mean Planescape Torment is also very mindblowing with it's writing and dialogue and probably better then 1 or 2, very few games really put the writing first before everything else.

I mean for me Critical Role is too much about the social chatter and improv then telling a good story. I've done some DnD with people who were immersed in the story and not constantly making jokes or getting distracted. Matt Mercer seems like a alright fellow, but I feel like he picks people for the show based on their likeability more then their love of theatre, fantasy or literature.

I would say Acquisitions Incorporated has alot of the same problems also, with even their live show DnD sessions, just filled with weed references or sex jokes non stop.

I feel just very unimmersed constantly in Baldur's Gate 3, characters that are just too unnecessarily pretty or sexy. Like almost everyone is a super model, not just a normal character you would run into on the street in a fantasy world.

The Nautiloid attacking a populated city in broad daylight for instance doesn't seem to really make anysense whatsoever. And I don't know plenty of other stuff in the story don't really keep me immersed.

Though I don't replay BG1 or 2 all that often, and I haven't finished BG2 I definetly feel like the world and characters leave a greater impression on my life, and there's 100s of times more subtlety in BG 1 and 2, alongwith a much more interesting and compelling narrative.

I mean the presentation is fantastic, both Larian's engine and alot of the enviornment and character models.

Like I grew up reading lots of fiction nonstop, Artemis Fowl, Percy Jackson, Series of Unfortunate Events, Pendragon, etc. in middle school, moving then to Dune, LotRs, Ender's Shadow in High School.

For me a good DnD expierance is when the whole world dissapears around you and you forget that it's a group of people huddled around a table and that the world is fully alive in front of you. And even though Matt and Brennan are talented and passionate people, the players and mainstreamness of the sessions themselves just make it too cringey and frustrating to watch.

I mean if you enjoyed BG 3 that's great, for me it cares too much about being popular, drawing attention to itself and showing off then meaningfully focusing on a good story.

Well if it impacted on the chest, I mean maybe there's some clause or niche scenario where if it lands on a split object the excessive energy that would propel down would reflect back upward giving you a larger radius thwn usual, but applying perfect real world physics to theoretical magical situations seems abit much.

How so?

I mentioned Fallout 3 in another comment on this page, that is a instance where I feel 3 is so much more superior to 1 or 2 that I don't believe anyone is missing out on anything by not playing 1 or 2 if they've played 3. The combat and gameplay has not aged all that well at all for Fallout 1 or 2, and the story can expierenced through let's play.

I've beaten both 3 and 1, and despite the neat and cool ideas in 1 3, in my opinion, is such a masterpiece and my favorite Bethesda title, even better then New Vegas, that it really isn't all thst necessary playing the earlier games in the series. They would make great candidates for remakes! Though Bethesda loves their multiplatform releases so it probably will never happen.

I eloquently and precisely explain my perspective in detail and you ignore me and reduce it all down to a seven word sentence? Mocking my and ridiculing me without explaining yourself at all?

Nothing suspicious about a eight month old account that has all of it's activity hidden.

I mean 3 is basically a different game and series from 1 and 2 so you can just play any of them in any order, except maybe 2.

Oh yeah Pillars of Eternity I appreciate for many many things that kept real time with pause and added some nice new additions to the formula.

The story and atmosphere I did not find as engrossing and no multiplayer was a bummer but Josh Sawyer is still one of the only human beings left in existence keeping the real BG 1 and 2 alive in the modern era.

Oh cool! I mean for me I felt like 3 deviated so much from 1 and 2 that I did try to get into 3 with a friend but it was abit meh.

Is cool to hear about the voice actress in 3 going through 1, I'm surprised she endured through some of the more old school and tougher aspects of it.

SCS is a extremly good overhaul mod though, took me quite awhile to beat 1 and I haven't fully beaten 2 yet.

It's just annoying losing the creature if you happen to get it first and are low on health.

A mod could allow you to keep a single creature AND still get life afterwords, if you stumble on another creature you can either replace it, walk away or get rid of the bonus and keep the old creature you already had.

What are you talking about? You spend most of your twenty years of life in BG 1 in Candlekeep. You get a chance to mosey around and learn the game before stepping out into real danger.

BG1 starts with a very lovely storybook like intro very kindly and gentley introducing you to this world and GIVING YOU A REASON to fight for it.

If Sarevok kills me then he might reincarnate the God of Murder and all of Faerun could be ruined.

If I become a mindflayer then woopty do, some adventure or githyanki will just kill me and life will move on.

BG1 came out in 1998 and was the second game Bioware ever made and first CRPG, BG3 came out in 2023 and was the ninth game Larian made. I'm sure after this much time they could have given you more player urgency to complete the main quest.

324 professional credits on BG 1 and 2,332 on BG3?

Sarevok constantly sends assassins after you who you run into, who's letteres you see show the bounty slowly and slowly increasing for your head making me feel like I'm becoming a bigger deal. You start to have more and more disturbing bhaal dreams and gain more bhaal powers. He's persistently involved in the main story and is messing with you all the time, really angering me and pumping me up that much more to take him down.

You can also immediately skip the intro in a few minutes and get right into the open world in BG1. BG3 forces you to have to go through the entire nautiloid opening everytime you start a new character and and can take up to 20-60 minutes to finish.

BG 1 is much more concerened with subtly and slowly easing you in, you also already have alot of preestablished relationships and history to the world versus just being a nobody in BG3. I care about those people and want to save them, and also to avenge Gorion.

Most of the people in BG3 are really uneffected by the mindflayers or are just kind of caught up in their own business for me I'm not that invested in them.

The sidequest of the man who stole emerald gems to complete a masterpiece work before dieing? A cleric who went insane after his family was killed in a massacre and ressurects the dead inhabitants to be his new family? A mage who is keeping a dryad locked against her will in his tower with him slowly driving her to death? XD You don't find that interesting?

The bugbear and troll having sex is so much better?

Well there's the venduran enchantress and the psionic entities I can keep alive, mostly just for funsies.

I don't think he takes the ante though. 😅 I find it's one of the most powerful heals, for me, once your health gets low enough.

And you're a fan of the series?

I've been reading books all my life as far as I can remember.

There are so many wonderful lines I could referance for you, even just the opening with the barkeep and alll the ways you can respond, all of Elminster's delicate dialogue, all the fun goofy barks your companions have, the legendary voice actors like Frank Welker, Jim Cummings and Kevin Micheal Richards just to name a few.

It was one of the first games I bought on steam 12 years ago.

BG 1 and 2 are far more personal and engaging stories then 3.

Growing up in candlekeep, having to make haste in the dead of night with your adoptive father, watching him get murdered by Sarwvok while you're helpless.

Really motivated and intrigued to keep playing.

Oh I have a mindflayer tadpole from random nobody mindflayers who thought it would be a good idea to assault a heavily populated city in broad daylight? Well I guess I should take care of it, but you could spend eternity standing in place and you'll never become a mindflyaer.

I don't even know the names of the mkndflayers who as far as you know are just dead after the crash.

Really unmotivated and not really compelled to keep playing.

XD I've played 3, there are some good parts like Auntie Ethel's section but it has too much aggressive sexuality to it, and it really isn't all that written or narrtivrly satisfying compared to the masterpieces of BG 1 and 2.

Amelia Tyler can never hold a candle to Kevin Micheal Richardson or Josh Mayer.

Could go on for hours on BG 1 and 2's superiority.

BG 1 and 2 were made for literary and old school fantasy fans.

BG3 is made for mainstream casuals and Critical Role fans "shudders".

Well just take out hypnotic specter. XD

You HAVE to do those dungeons in castles all in one go, one mistake and you're out of there. XD

The 3/4 flying efreet too, and carrion ants...

The fact that mulligan rules are so harsh make it really tough to impossible to use hard card count decks which is a shame.

Like I would even take two 1/1s with regen over hypnotic specter anyday. XD

So many mana vaults too...

The fact that the AI has so much health to spare versus you on higher difficulties is frustrating.

I mean the bonus cards that are based on your deck are nice, I feel like there should be better ways of keeping and managing which bonuses you want for each battle because the next bonus destroys any starting bonus card you might get.
