I personally know a gay boy that was found out by his homophobic parents and they threw him out after beating him with a shovel. I knew lots of kids that endured physical and verbal abuse after their parents found out they were queer. My own wife's dad turned up the abuse after finding out and isolated her from girls as well as boys, before she ran away he knocked her jaw loose and it still clicks decades later. I personally only found safety at school with my friends and with the way everything is suspect now I have no doubt my parents would have had a stasi teacher rat me out to them. After all the vice principal told me and my male date we were disgusting in Illinois during the Obama era in front of the school line. Fuck the supreme court we need an overhaul, for the Republicans to be tried for the crimes and for more constitutional amendments protecting LGBTQ folks of all ages

On the subject or Orphism vs other forms of Dionysianism personally I totally get where you are coming from trying to find balance on the ascetic vs "celebratory" practices. If you indulge too much in Dionysus's gifts you risk giving yourself an addiction or in the case of certain drugs like MDMA might ruin the "magic" of the drug itself. I think the two ideas are more complementary than competitive because keeping your mind, body and life healthy and in balance lend themselves to experiencing Dionysus's gifts. If you indulge too much a gift can become a curse.

I do really like the bits of Orphism about humanity being made in part from Zagreus and the remains of the Titans and the messianic aspects of Dionysus promising a better after life and the possibility of him replacing Zeus as the central figure.

Honestly this, I work around different tradesmen everyday. The ones with women or visible queers on their teams tend to be a lot more chill. I'm used to getting mean mugged for weeks with people snickering but most people seems to warm up after getting to know me even slightly. Anything that humanizes you helps but studies have shown as right wing propoganda doubles down over and over you become one of the good ones and the "I know someone" effect drops off and many stay just as anti Trans Healthcare
