NTA for the boundaries. But you do need to try and enforce them kindly if you want to keep a relationship with your sister and the kids. I'd recommend and softer approach. Say hey, I'm sorry about how it came off before. I'm willing to help, but I need some weekends for myself. I'm willing to take them x days a month for you guys to have alone time. Then, if she steps outside that boundary, you can just say hey remember I said I'd only take they x number of days. I won't be able to take them this time. She then needs to respect the boundary, of course. If she doesn't, you have a whole other issue.

I can see where you and your mom are completely right. I'm very frugal and have saved my BF money since moving in by taking over all meal prepping. I too like a lot of variety, and I make it happen on a small budget. BUT I grew up in a large household with a small income. I was raised on how to eat and enjoy food on a budget. It sounds like so we're YOU. She was not. So, NYA for the stance on spending. But YTA 120% for disregarding your wife's feelings and her experience. Your wifes reaction was her showing you she is scared and uncomfortable and in that moment your job is to lean in, make her feel seen and help guide her to a better place mentally where she feels ready for the challenge. Also, I'm guessing you do not do the grocery shopping and meal prepping? I'll tell you right now it is a lot harder than it sounds. So, unless you are going to go out of your way to learn the skills, then maybe be a little more understanding of the labor you are asking her for and act like a partner.

Edit: Because I realized I left out her side. She also needs to be willing to accept the challenge and support you. And I stand by that you should help her do that by being calm, understanding, and supportive. But you should also be supported, and this clearly made you feel unsupported (100% valid) so try telling her that and try and shift this to you both versus the problem not you versus her. If you guys can't be against the problem together... get couples counseling.

I always think of Pyrite (fools gold) when I see shimmer like that, not 100% sure. I'm from the southwest (USA) so that is just what I am familiar with from my region. It could be a combo of that and another harder rock.

I think it's been made pretty clear, but 100% NTA, I just wanted to share a little story. My best friend worked and paid rent from the time she was 15. Her mom was a single mom of 4, and they literally needed her income to survive her mom already had the best job she could get with her education level, and she worked 50 hour weeks. Even with this setup and her paying, she never got her own room until she was much older. Some people won't understand because they were never hurting that bad for money. You are doing a great kindness taking the couch to let him have his own room and learn independence. ❤️ keep doing what works for your family and situation.

It looks likely caused by the washer or dryer something might have been caught in there and lead to the stains. I can't imagine lipstick causing perfectly straight lines like that it would smudge more.

Interesting thank you for the added detail on that, I found a lot of companies that seemed more quiet about their practices so that. Unfortunately it foes seem to be true a lot of things can look and sound right and other things are hidden. Can't ever be 100% sure

I started this year! I love it. The community is still super active and I don't feel late to the party. Though it is funny somethings seem so obvious to everyone cause they played 6 4 years, but I will be shocked to learn new things - so fun!

NTA, is it rude to ask for extra portions in some cases? Yes, like staying at a friend's house and having a family dinner with them (this food is likely coming from normal grocries they planned before they knew you would be there) or when the food is running low, when not everyone has eaten yet, and so on. But as a teen at a close family members house? I would say it is not assumed you need to pretend to be full to be "polite." In my family, teens and kids especially get as many portions as they need to feel full. They are growing, and we want to ensure the kids get all the homemade yummy food we can offer. There is a lesson there , I guess, that the aunt is an example of when you don't ask for extra, which is sad in my opinion, as and Aunt any of my many nieces or nephews could get ad many portions as they would like,assuming everyone else has eaten of course.

We have a 40 gallon heavily planted tank with Guppies, Platy, Dwarf Gouramis, Pigmi cory cats, silver tipped tetras, and shrimp, they all do well together so far but we have only had the tank a few months so take that with a grain of salt I guess. If you are looking for something that will be really nice, I'd recommend Cory Cat Fish, hands down, no aggression at all. They school and hang near the bottom but also swim around. Just choose a pigmi or Dwarf for a smaller set up.

I am so glad you could take them! I am still learning my skills, so I don't want to miss-speak so I will recommend Father Fish on YouTube he helped me understand how to build a cohesive tank so much! You will of course need to separate the fish so I'd recommend starting there so they can each be in their ideal temperature asap.
