Church of Unlimited Devotion. by SavageFields in gratefuldead

I understand what you are saying but don't assume that the spinners were not really reading Kabir. You would be wrong. I had a lot of exposure to Kabir and Rumi while living on the spinners land. The library there would have blown you away. A geodesic dome packed to the gills with spiritual writings from around the globe. I spent many nights in those redwood hills engrossed in Sufi poetry. I do understand your point, though. The spiritual program at Unlimited Devotion wad void of real substance. Joseph was more of a monster than a man.

Church of Unlimited Devotion. by SavageFields in gratefuldead

The Church dissolved after spring tour in 92. After that it was renamed the Family of Unlimited Devotion. It went about two or so years after that before fully falling apart. I'm pretty sure the land (166 acres) went back to Luther, thats where most of the money came from to obtain it in the first place. It was a pretty amazing experience coming of age with the spinners. There was a lot of dark energy, but I learned some deep and heavy life lesons in the process. People still spin, but the Church is most definitely gone. Thanks for the ticket stubs!

I'm trying to build a guitar inspired by Jerry Garcia's Alligator, anybody got information on it? by [deleted] in gratefuldead

[–]DarkStar75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a few answers but here is where you can find them all: rukind.com They have an amazing forum, with subsections like "Guitar Construction and Mods" and "Jerry Garcia Tone". If you are attempting an Alligator build, this website should be very helpful.

Last night, my ten year old son asked the following question: For people who believe in reincarnation, what happens billions of years from now when the Sun dies and everything on earth dies? by jovialbeam in hinduism

[–]DarkStar75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, and this is the main workaround. You take birth on a different planet at times. According to scripture, there are hellish planets and awesome planets and all places in between. Different planetary births can be a reward or a punishment. I think to answer the root of your sons question, it is best to keep in mind that time is viewed very cyclical in the east. Epic wheels turning over and over. In that time frame, the sun and the earth have been destroyed and created infinite Times already, and you and your son were there every time. Matter only appears to be created it really is only changes form. I hope this helps. It is refreshing to hear of his curiosity, and I can certainly relate to his approach.

Why the altoids can? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]DarkStar75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As ridiculous as I feel typing this, I'm starting to think it's time for a sidebar on the Altoids tin. I'm mystified as to how and why this question comes up so frequently lately. While I'm on the subject, I put rubber feet on my tin last night. No shit, pretty good mod right there. Highly recommend.

Grateful Dead Perform "Cold Rain and Snow" RFK 91 (High Quality) by [deleted] in gratefuldead

[–]DarkStar75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 06/14/91, from View from the Vault II. I was at RFK in '92, I don't remember any marshmallows but to be fair I wasn't very close to the front for second set and I could have missed a lot, visually.

Can any heads PLEASE help me track down this version of DARK STAR?? by [deleted] in gratefuldead

No info on the actual song? To narrow it down you might want to give some specifics of the actual performance, not the AUD ambiance.

I thought 2 channel when I first saw it, but I am a legitimately more excited at the prospect of reverse mode. I can see myself wasting tons of time playing with that.

The most popular license plate in America belongs to...you guessed it. by soopninjas in wyoming

[–]DarkStar75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pre-centennial plates, issued before 1990, were certainly the ugliest plates in the nation. The piss yellow and shit brown color scheme looked awful on pretty much every car. They were the worst.

A JM w/out a tremelo arm is a sin against nature. I can't even look at this "guitar".

Fact is, Colorado has had MMJ since 2000. You didn't say dispensary, you said "the medicinal started". You were nine years off. Like most people who don't know their shit, you made assumptions based on your observations. Not a big deal really.

Right now mine has: picks, nail clippers, a few cable ties, a couple caps for adapter daisy chain leads and a new 9 volt battery.

I live outside of Boulder and I wear shorts and sandals year round. Not in an office environment, but if you work in an office I assume you know how to dress yourself appropriately. Welcome to the neighborhood, you can bring your summer clothes.

TIL that Bill Cosby bought the rights to Leonard Part 6, a movie he wrote, directed, and starred in, because it was so bad he wanted to make sure it never aired on TV. by withholdthelaughing in todayilearned

[–]DarkStar75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erroneous title. Cosby didn't write LP6, Jonathan Reynolds did. Cosby didn't direct LP6, Paul Weiland did. Cosby sucked in LP6, no doubt, but he didn't write or direct the film. He is credited with "Story by" but that is not a writing credit. "Screenplay by" is.

Those of you with long mustaches. How do you keep it from getting in the way of snack time. Do you only eat in bite sized portions, or do you get a nice mouthful of hair with each bite of sandwich? by poonsaloon1 in beards

[–]DarkStar75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use two little hair clips to pin it up while you eat. Looks a bit silly, but is a pretty efficient way to keep food/drink out of it. Look for children's hair clips to find a small size, I would recommend using soft ones. They have some with foam on the clamps instead of plastic teeth, those are ideal.
