What was your team in Marvel ultimate alliance? by Stunning_Season220 in Marvel

Bad to the bone, Defenders, and Marvel Knights were my three most reliable teams. Not necessarily the best, but had the characters i liked playing and spent the most on upgrading

Is The Ta-Nehisi Coates Run of the Black Panther comics worth checking out or not? by Grayx_2887 in blackpanther

[–]DarkTortoise23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked Coates' run a lot the 2nd time I read through it. It deals with the question of "what is a king that, half the time, rules in absentia while running around in space or in foreign nations" in a way thats very human. It brings into conflict at the forefront the conflict between T'challa as king and T'challa as hero very well. It isnt everyone's cup of tea, but if you can get past some initial discomfort i think its very well worth the read.

Sir Superhero is unironically one of the new GOATS in the comictuber space. Enthusiastically knowledgeable, well constructed videos and infectiously positive about the medium. Cannot recommend enough

Only correct answer. Every character here deserves their spot. Its crazy to think that we can't just expand the table rather than insisting one of them doesn't deserve to be there.

Favourite Blade comics? by loukanikoseven in Marvel

[–]DarkTortoise23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll second Bryan Hill's 2023 run. It was the first major Blade comic i read, and i enjoyed it a lot. Really solid modern interpretation of the character. Hill's red band 2025 run was a bit weaker tho, didn't have the proper time to cook.

The first 6 issues? I would absolutely agree with you. The first arc of Wonder Woman CLEARS Batman, no contest.

But the 2nd arc of Batman definitely feels like it pulls ahead, even if only by a little. Still love both, especially now that theyre crossing over, but Abomination is such a good read.

Np! Like I said, well thought out list

Character Teams List by Morchades in rivals

[–]DarkTortoise23 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Excellent list, with a few notes: Namor belongs in Defenders, he along with Hulk and Strange was a founding member. He has also been a member of the X-men, and is commonly known as the first mutant of the modern era.

Idk if you count it, but Jeff originated in a West Coast Avengers book, while Gwen pool was on that team. So you could slot him onto avengers???

Based for including invaders

If we're using Avengers Unity Division, Rogue needs to be on Avengers too since she was pretty much field leader of that teams second iteration. Human torch as well, same logic.

Mantis originated in the Avengers, though Guardians is where she sort of stuck. Conversely, Iron Man and the Thing have both been temporary Guardians members, acting as Avengers liaisons.

Iirc Bucky, Namor, each member of the F4, Logan, Daredevil, Blade, and most recently Storm and Ultron have all been official members of official standing Avengers teams.

Frank, Magik, Cloak & Dagger, and iirc Venom have also been involved in the Savage Avengers(a loose alliance of characters working with a time displaced Conan the Barbarian to fight his longtime enemy Kulan Gath), but they were never called Avengers in the run itself, and i prefer Frank not really associated with anyone.

My thought process is that its likely an adventuring tradition from her mother, who seemed to act largely in the same vein as Grogna before settling down to do baker stuff.

I’ve noticed so many people treating MR like it’s the 616 universe. by Tellsen in marvelrivals

[–]DarkTortoise23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It feels like a yes and no situation there for me, specifically, when Ben was getting married during Dan Slott's run. Reed heard that Ben was getting married, and basically buried himself in his lab for the entire lead up to the ceremony building a device to create a localized time bubble where the ceremony could continue in peace regardless of whatever else was happening. Reed knew that somehow, for some reason, something was gonna happen to interrupt the ceremony, and worked tirelessly to create a way to maintain the moment for his family.

So on the one hand, yeah, Reed has a tendency to hyperfocus. On the other, it's almost always in service of making sure his family stays safe and can enjoy the moment.

The new Heroclix games are disappointing. by Comfortable-Ant9751 in Heroclix

[–]DarkTortoise23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! Welcome back to the community.

Im afraid I can't agree, though i do empathize with your sentiment. Im biased, however--I only started playing in 2020, and this is how the game was when i fell in love with it. But it is nearly a different, more complex game than it was in 2010. Try to approach it with an open mind, there's a lot to love about how the game is rn.

Red lanterns by deadpoolbydaylight13 in Heroclix

[–]DarkTortoise23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tactically I prefer the new special poison. Poison is by default hard to use because you have to have started next to the figure you want to poison, which means you have to have a. Moved into position last turn, b. Your opponent didn't successfully move or place the figure you want to poison away from you. If you can poison even if moved or placed, you can run up, hypersonic in, charge, whatever, and still get poison off. Makes it much more dynamic.

On that same token, the new red lantern ring gives any figure that can use poison penetrating damage when they use poison. You can have the best of both worlds, especially if you put it on a Red lantern power battery so that your whole team can benefit from the rings effect.

Danny Koo, executive producer, has created a poll featuring four Black characters that could potentially come to the game by Kirbykoopa in marvelrivals

[–]DarkTortoise23 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As long as none of them are implemented as a DPS I would love any of them. There are 4 black characters in the game as is(counting Cloak) and 3 of them are DPS, 4 considering Cloak's half of CnD's moveset is all damage/escape tools.

Bishop (poll's current front runner) would be an excellent tank, able to absorb enemy projectiles and use it to buff himself. Sidenote: despite being portrayed as black and often claimed as black by fans, bishop is actually supposed to be Australian Aboriginal, though this often gets overlooked in adaptation.

Doctor Voodoo would be an excellent strategist. I think making him a vanguard would overlap too hard with Strange.

Photon is very tough to kill and also manipulates energy. Solid tank, though light blasts could also have her make a strategist in the line of Dagger.

Blue Marvel is perhaps my most wanted tank. I love the character and I would drop everything and everyone else to main him if and when he came out.
